Yo don't have to be perfect to serve the Lord. In fact, the point is you serve while you grow.
[00:00:00] Welcome to the Bible Speaks with Elgin Carelock. The Bible Speaks is a weekly ministry of harvest international. Our prayer is that the Bible Speaks will encourage you in your study of God's Word.
[00:00:38] You will be able to contact Elgin at the address given at the end of this broadcast. And now, here's Elgin. In a discussion on the topic of, called to this, but caught in that. In our spiritual inspiration is coming from Isaiah, chapter 40, verse 31.
[00:01:15] And reading from the complete Jewish Bible, it reads, but those who hope and adenine will renew their strength. They will soar a law as with eagle wings. When they are running, they won't grow weary. When they are walking, they won't get tired.
[00:01:38] So the point of view here is that there are things in life that we have not been able to release. They are the thing that one thing that sometimes helps you identify who you are. Your father drank, your grandfather drank and you drink.
[00:02:00] But knowing that the Word says that we must be sober. And so as you grow spiritually, God still calls you. He still uses you. But that you're still caught by that taste. Your spirit is willing, but your flesh is weak.
[00:02:20] And so we're going to have a discussion about how we work. Effectively, for God, wow, we're working our way out of those things that separate us from God. And so for that, I'm going to allow our ask, be subject to start us. And we'll just go from there.
[00:02:44] Once again, thank you so much for having me on your cast to quite the pleasure and privilege to meet you. You know, it's amazing because people that are called are the perfect. And there's no thatage this says, if you wait until you were good enough to do anything,
[00:03:11] you never do anything. And it's true because when God calls us, it's not like saying, hey, buddy, you got a second come over. The sovereign being of the universe that calls us. And he calls us into, so his calling us into a relationship.
[00:03:42] First with him as it stated in Matthew's section 33, Seeky first to kingdom of God and his righteousness, all things will be added unto you. So within the call, it is in the seeking and the seeking is where we get developed.
[00:04:02] There's no where this says that we are perfect in that. We go from faith to faith and from glory to glory throughout our entire lives. And every tier level of our development, you know, I love the scripture that talks about the fact that we're called.
[00:04:22] To the higher call, I pressed toward the mark of the higher call and in Christ Jesus, all talked about that. So that led me to believe that in the calling there is the low medium and high calling.
[00:04:34] No one starts out in their highest of calling and anything that we're sent to do. So this should relieve some of us of the pressures that external pressures that are put on us by society, as well as some of the pressures that we put on ourselves.
[00:04:54] When we look at that particular passage of the scripture, learn the things that stood out to me and my research was that, you know, even young men grow tired. And so I have effort and energy, so you know, the rest of us were all, you know,
[00:05:09] were all, we were tired of what we were when we started. But the same one that called us is watching over us to complete that which he started in us if we allow him to do so.
[00:05:26] And even the fist, so some people that we spend our lives trying to be so spiritually right or we fall within the confines of certain Jewish-Dictional influences, whether it's our cultural influences or religious or denominational influences,
[00:05:46] structures or the so-called powers that be or they say, which I still have not met. That put us into certain boxes that they want us to fit in to prove that we have the right
[00:06:01] to walk in the core. Wow. So therefore there's the strain that's always that sometimes that, you know, the rabbit tells us also the thing that you concentrate on the muscle, you fear the greatest comes upon you. So many times that people fail into alcohol, there's
[00:06:19] a more fail into an outgrowth or fail into sexual promiscuity or a number of different things and suicidal thoughts and so on. This is me that you're not called. It is your view of the core.
[00:06:35] But we have to remember the one who has called us is the one that we're going to have to answer to. This is the thing because you can't in stumble and fall. It is long as we in this earth,
[00:06:48] we have the opportunity to fail and sometimes it failure is good not that you're intentionally failing or intentionally falling but you should learn from that Jesus had to learn obedience from the things that he suffered. That does preach well on a Sunday morning. But when you think about
[00:07:12] how was that even possible? Well, he came into the earth in the form of man to live an exemplary life to show us how it can be done. He set the example. It wasn't that he raised a
[00:07:24] bar so high that it was unreachable. He set the example and if then he followed it up by stating, you watched me live this thing and I must go and I'm going to send a computer who will keep you.
[00:07:38] Therefore, I will not leave you alone so that I can help increase the percentage of opportunity for you to be successful in that which I've called you to walk into if you will just continue
[00:07:53] to follow me. If you really take that to heart then the Holy Spirit also is there for strengthening to we always are going to have that thing. We can replace one thing as I was sharing with the
[00:08:11] Bishop earlier, I smoked for more than 20 years but I stopped more than 20 years ago but during that time it was very difficult and but it didn't mean I still wasn't a Sunday school teacher. It
[00:08:25] didn't mean that I still didn't minister to my family and have Bible study at my home. It meant that while I worked he was working on me and really what it was really happening is I was
[00:08:41] slowly but surely allowing him to lead instead of me trying to use my own power and having patches and chewing gum and all these other kind of things. You know when I made the decision or when the
[00:08:57] Holy Spirit powered me enough to make that decision I put the cigarette out and here we are at 20 plus years later that I've never picked it up again because he helped me remove that but the
[00:09:11] impetus was my desire to let him lead, lead me out of it because of my own power I've always going to fall back and so it always reminds me of Roman 7 where Paul says in verse 18 for
[00:09:30] I know that in me that is in my flesh well no good thing for to wield his present with me but how to perform that which is good I find that. So he's basically saying you know without
[00:09:46] the power of the Holy Spirit it's going to be very very difficult but when you think about Paul's ministry and all of his churches that he planted and all of the people that he supported even
[00:09:58] though he struggled like this the work still had to be done and God called him to that and he recognized that but he also recognized that he can't get himself into a position where he thinks he's
[00:10:13] so high in mighty because he has influence because he has impact it is a a way to keep you humble in the sense of needing God as your your guide to need Jesus as your redemptor right and Holy
[00:10:31] Spirit as your confeder so that you understand that is not by your might that this is occurring that you have victory over these things but do the relationship that you have with the father
[00:10:44] son and Holy Spirit and an understanding of what the expectation is through study in the word. That's very very important that we have that relationship if we have failures and short companies continue to if we really want to examine our lives we have something to repent about
[00:11:07] every day. Every day. Although every time however we must remember that our righteousness is of a filthy dirty rage according to scripture. Yes, Lord but he is our righteousness right so when we talk about Jehovah McCettish, we're talking about the righteousness of the Lord being our righteousness
[00:11:36] and being the one that stands in the gap for us as our mediator before the father and that he would deal in our lives in our short coming. I submit to you that if you have a heart to what the things
[00:11:53] of God he notices and if he's forgiven you forgive yourself and continue to walk in it continue to walk in the call the thing that he's called you to do we have an adversary so you can assault
[00:12:10] liking unto a growing line and looking to destroy. So they know their job from a monitoring standpoint and well as well as a familiarization standpoint so they know the spots of fear need greed. They
[00:12:25] know your heart and buttons. They know the things that you come through in your life and your family, your history and so on. One of the things I always like to share with those is that you must learn
[00:12:36] how to ascend a bug your failures, a bug your short companies, above the things that we against you and begin to stabilize in him by replacing your thought processes with the word of God
[00:12:55] which is spirit and light. This is what the Bible says and we respond to this my spirit and light and it's prophetic which means it has the power to change your situation, the moment that
[00:13:07] it's released. I want you to encourage yourself today and step forward and speak that out of your mouth and say I am above only and not beneath I am the head and not the tail. I am not where people say
[00:13:21] I am I am not in what society may say I am a words connected to I am a child of God and I am an overcomer and a finish. I may not know how I'm going to overcome or how it's going to finish but
[00:13:37] I know who I believe and I believe. Brothers and sisters we want to thank you for spending time with us on today and we look forward to our conversation on tomorrow until then God bless.
