The Bible Speaks - Words of Inspiration

[00:00:00] We're the spring, we're together on our knees, we're the spring, we're together on our knees And I fall for my knees with my face to the rise in sun, or the whole day, with mercy on me Welcome to Words of Inspiration with your host and teacher, Elgin Carelock.

[00:00:32] Now let's hear from Elgin. God asked, where is Abel? My brother. And he said, I know not. Am I my brother's keeper? That is a question that I would like to discuss today in our time together. Are we our brothers' keeper?

[00:01:16] Is it important that we have a proper relationship with not only those who are biological brothers and sisters? But those who are our brothers and sisters in the human race, do we have any responsibility to take care of others as part of our lives?

[00:01:40] Because I know many of you will say, my life's hard enough. I can't worry about other people. But what does the word say about them? See in Luke chapter 10, verses 25 to 37, the story of the good Samaritan. In Joshua chapter 2, verses 1 through 22, we hear about Ray Hab.

[00:02:05] And in Genesis 19, verses 1 through 11, we see light protecting the angels that were sent to Sodom. So obviously it is very important in the word of God that we make provision with those who come into our sphere.

[00:02:30] You notice in the customs of the children of Israel, when Guest arrived, one of the first things that they did was wash their feet and then they would give them something to eat.

[00:02:44] That is really an example of the one, the humbleness that it takes to greet someone and wash their feet. To show them that you are welcoming them into your home and extending them the full courtesy of your attention of your food.

[00:03:04] They would slaughter an animal and cook it for those guests. And sometimes there were people that they didn't even know, but do we do the same today? Do we welcome strangers as brothers? Do we treat people who are different from us? The same is us.

[00:03:23] Do we exemplify the love of Christ with every single person that we encounter? If we don't, then I will challenge you on tomorrow to take the opportunity to be nice to someone that you don't know. To speak to someone that you don't know.

[00:03:46] If you have an opportunity to help someone, do it. And if all of us were to do it, what a different world it would be. It would be more reflective of what Jesus meant when he said, for us to love our neighbor as ourselves.

[00:04:04] So brothers and sisters, I thank you for spending these brief moments with me and I look forward to what's happening in opportunity to do again. Very, very soon. So let me go. I bless you and keep you in Jesus Christ and I will pray. Amen.

[00:04:20] I've wandered far away from the NAM come in home. Words of inspiration with oddly McLean is a ministry of harvest international. You may write to oddly at harvest international post office box 660-90, O'Cala Florida 344-78.
