[00:01:02] Brothers and sisters, I welcome you in the name of our risen Savior, Jesus the Christ, to another edition of The Bible Speaks, where we're studying God's word together. Today's discussion is titled, Waiting on God. Our spiritual inspiration comes from Proverbs chapter 3, verses 5 through 7,
[00:01:31] 1, which reads, Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thy own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thy own eyes. Fear the Lord, and depart from evil.
[00:01:54] One of the hardest parts of walking with God is learning to see the relationship from His point of view instead of our own. We live in a natural world, so we often try to apply natural thinking to spiritual living. But God never asked us to figure Him out with human logic. He asked us to trust Him. Let us pray.
[00:02:21] Heavenly Father, thank you for being faithful, wise, and loving in every season of our lives. Quiet our hearts today, and help us hear you clearly. Teach us not to rush ahead of you, or lean on our own understanding. But to trust you deeply, follow you fully, and receive the wisdom of the Holy Spirit. In Jesus Christ's name we pray. Amen.
[00:02:52] Waiting on God doesn't mean doing nothing. It doesn't mean sitting still with no responsibility, no thought, and no movement. Waiting on God means seeking counsel from the one who knows. It means slowing down long enough to let the Word shape your thinking, and let the Holy Spirit bring clarity to your choices. That's important. Because many of us want God to move on demand.
[00:03:22] We know He can change our lives in a moment. So we expect Him to do exactly what we want, exactly how we want. And when He doesn't, we're tempted to take matters into our own hands, and then ask grace and mercy to rescue us from decisions we shouldn't have made. Proverbs 3 is teaching us something deeper.
[00:03:46] Trusting in the Lord with all your heart means being fully bought in on who God is. It means believing His promises are true. It means understanding that when we accepted Jesus as Lord, we gained access to wisdom, peace, direction, and the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit. This connects us to what we talked about in Why Trials Come.
[00:04:14] Sometimes God allows pressure to refocus us because we keep choosing from intellect, emotion, or impatience instead of surrender. It connects to, God, where are you? Because often the issue is not that God has gone silent. It's that He's trying to deepen our understanding instead of just giving us a quick answer. When Scripture says He will direct our paths,
[00:04:43] that doesn't always mean a loud voice saying, turn left or go right. Although there are times when the Holy Spirit does lead that clearly. But often, God directs our path by increasing our understanding through His Word. As our understanding grows, our choices become clearer. Our reactions become more measured. Our desires become more aligned. We begin to recognize what pleases God
[00:05:13] because the teachings of Jesus are taking root in our heart. I love Lamentations 3 and 25, which reads, The Lord is good unto them that wait for Him, to the souls that seeketh Him. Waiting is tied to seeking, and seeking changes you. It makes you less impulsive, less proud, less anxious, and more settled in truth.
[00:05:41] And then there's Isaiah 30 and 21, which reads, This is the way. Walk ye in it. Sometimes that direction comes after you spend enough time with God that your heart has become teachable. Waiting is not wasted time. It's shaping time. So if you're in a season of waiting, do not mistake it for abandonment. God may be building a depth in you
[00:06:09] that can carry the very thing you've been praying for. Study the Word. Pray with honesty. Ask for wisdom. Let the Holy Spirit correct your thinking. Because when your heart is rooted in God, your path becomes clearer, your steps become steadier, and your life becomes more pleasing to Him. And that is the beauty of waiting on God.
[00:06:37] While you think you're waiting on Him, He's also working on you. Father God, thank you for being patient with us when we're tempted to rush, panic, or lean on our own understanding. Teach us to wait with faith, to seek with humility, and to trust with our whole heart. Let your Word increase our understanding, and let the Holy Spirit guide our thoughts,
