As we reflect on Matthew 6:24 and the question "Who’s slave are you?" let’s consider what it means for our business lives. Are we serving money, driven by the pursuit of profit at all costs? Or are we serving God, using our business as a means to live out our faith and make a positive impact in the world?

[00:00:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to The Bible Speaks with your host Elgin Carelock.

[00:00:42] [SPEAKER_00]: The Bible Speaks is a daily podcast dedicated to sharing the good news of Jesus Christ, rightly

[00:00:49] [SPEAKER_00]: dividing the word of truth and learning how to apply it to our daily lives.

[00:00:55] [SPEAKER_00]: You may contact Elgin at the address given at the end of the broadcast.

[00:01:00] [SPEAKER_00]: And now here's Elgin.

[00:01:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Brothers and sisters, I welcome you in the name of our risen Savior Jesus to Christ to another

[00:01:09] [SPEAKER_02]: episode of The Bible Speaks on Business.

[00:01:13] [SPEAKER_02]: And today, Mr. Jackson and I are going to speak on a topic that cuts to the core of how we

[00:01:20] [SPEAKER_02]: live and work.

[00:01:22] [SPEAKER_02]: The question is, Who's Slave Are You?

[00:01:27] [SPEAKER_02]: We're going to take a closer look at Matthew 6 verse 24 and how this powerful verse relates

[00:01:34] [SPEAKER_02]: to running a business in today's world.

[00:01:37] [SPEAKER_02]: In Matthew 6 and 24, Jesus says, No one can serve two masters.

[00:01:44] [SPEAKER_02]: Either you will hate the one and love the other or you'll be devoted to the one and

[00:01:50] [SPEAKER_02]: despise the other.

[00:01:51] [SPEAKER_02]: You cannot serve both God and money.

[00:01:56] [SPEAKER_02]: This verse is often quoted in discussions about priorities and loyalties, but it has profound

[00:02:03] [SPEAKER_02]: implications for how we approach business as well.

[00:02:07] [SPEAKER_02]: At the heart of this verse is the question, Who or What controls your life?

[00:02:13] [SPEAKER_02]: In a business context, this has become a critical issue.

[00:02:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Are we driven by a relentless pursuit of profit at all costs?

[00:02:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Or are we guided by values that align with our faith and principles?

[00:02:28] [SPEAKER_02]: Jesus makes it clear that trying to serve both God and money leads to a divided heart

[00:02:34] [SPEAKER_02]: and ultimately a divided life.

[00:02:37] [SPEAKER_02]: In the business world, the temptation to serve money is strong.

[00:02:42] [SPEAKER_02]: The pressures of competition, the desires for growth and the pursuit of success can easily

[00:02:48] [SPEAKER_02]: lead us to prioritize profit over people and financial gain over integrity.

[00:02:55] [SPEAKER_02]: But when money becomes our master, we risk compromising our values and we begin to

[00:03:02] [SPEAKER_02]: make decisions based solely on what's most profitable rather than what's right.

[00:03:08] [SPEAKER_02]: When we serve money, our businesses can become driven by greed, leading to unethical

[00:03:14] [SPEAKER_02]: practices, a lack of concern for employees and a disregard for the well-being of

[00:03:20] [SPEAKER_02]: customers and the community.

[00:03:22] [SPEAKER_02]: This kind of leadership may bring short-term gains, but it often leads to long-term

[00:03:28] [SPEAKER_02]: damage, damage to our reputation, to relationships, and if we're not careful, to ourselves.

[00:03:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Dr. Kerel, once again it's great to be with you.

[00:03:42] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, yes, this indeed is a controversial type of a topic.

[00:03:50] [SPEAKER_01]: You have read it out of one version of the Bible as I have shared in previous broadcasts

[00:03:59] [SPEAKER_01]: that I use the complete Jewish Bible and it shares an interesting perspective

[00:04:06] [SPEAKER_01]: out of the same book of Matthew chapter 6 verse 24. It says,

[00:04:12] [SPEAKER_01]: no one can be slave to two masters for he will either hate the first and love the

[00:04:21] [SPEAKER_01]: second or scorn the second and be loyal to the first.

[00:04:27] [SPEAKER_01]: You can't be a slave to both God and money.

[00:04:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Interesting type of concept that's here.

[00:04:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Mammon is used once in scripture in any sentence with God, which should show us the

[00:04:49] [SPEAKER_01]: level of power that it has in its operation.

[00:04:55] [SPEAKER_01]: What I wanted to take a look at at this particular juncture is that when he's talking

[00:05:03] [SPEAKER_01]: about slave, slave has such negative connotations in so many areas of people's

[00:05:09] [SPEAKER_01]: lives and what heaven is understandable.

[00:05:11] [SPEAKER_01]: But we understand too that God is a spirit and they that worship him must

[00:05:17] [SPEAKER_01]: worship him in spirit and truth.

[00:05:20] [SPEAKER_01]: We go back to 2 Corinthians 5 and 17 says any man is in Christ, he's a new creation.

[00:05:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Old things have passed away, all things have become new.

[00:05:29] [SPEAKER_01]: So we also see throughout scripture that Paul talks about being a bond slave,

[00:05:35] [SPEAKER_01]: a servant of the Lord.

[00:05:37] [SPEAKER_01]: I submit to you that there is when we're looking at God and we're looking

[00:05:44] [SPEAKER_01]: at mammon, we have to look at it from a spiritual perspective.

[00:05:50] [SPEAKER_01]: If the Bible tells us we've been bought with a price, the price is the high

[00:05:55] [SPEAKER_01]: column of Christ Jesus, the price is the shed blood of Jesus that enable us to

[00:06:00] [SPEAKER_01]: come into a relationship with him.

[00:06:03] [SPEAKER_01]: What am I saying?

[00:06:04] [SPEAKER_01]: To start with ask Christians, we are not our own.

[00:06:11] [SPEAKER_01]: We do not belong to ourselves.

[00:06:14] [SPEAKER_01]: The operative word was bought.

[00:06:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Someone has purchased you and because we're talking about the marketplace,

[00:06:23] [SPEAKER_01]: we're talking about business or whatever type of business that you may be in.

[00:06:28] [SPEAKER_01]: If you belong to Christ then you have been purchased by the blood.

[00:06:34] [SPEAKER_01]: If you are saying that you again, you are born again and so on.

[00:06:39] [SPEAKER_01]: That means that there was a transaction that took place and that transaction

[00:06:44] [SPEAKER_01]: was the shedding of the blood of Jesus that you may have life and that more abundantly.

[00:06:50] [SPEAKER_01]: So therefore in order to access the things of abundance,

[00:06:56] [SPEAKER_01]: access the thing of wealth or wealth creation or wealth building,

[00:07:01] [SPEAKER_01]: you're going to access it through a spirit, via spirit, via spirit relationship,

[00:07:08] [SPEAKER_01]: whether it's going to be God or it's going to be mammon.

[00:07:12] [SPEAKER_01]: I think that even as basic Christians that when we come into understanding

[00:07:16] [SPEAKER_01]: that we become Christians and we want to serve the Lord and we do so,

[00:07:21] [SPEAKER_01]: which is wonderful, we give our praise, we give our worship

[00:07:24] [SPEAKER_01]: and in cases we give our first fruit offerings, our tithes and so on

[00:07:30] [SPEAKER_01]: and you know, we just have a wonderful time serving the Lord.

[00:07:34] [SPEAKER_01]: However, I submit to you today that there is something much greater

[00:07:40] [SPEAKER_01]: when you have entered into the marketplace and there is a greater charge

[00:07:47] [SPEAKER_01]: to walk in this, there's a greater charge and challenge

[00:07:51] [SPEAKER_01]: to make a determination as to whom you're going to serve.

[00:07:57] [SPEAKER_01]: I know in whom I believe, I believe God, I trust God.

[00:08:02] [SPEAKER_01]: So when we're looking at those various areas, we have to look at the idea

[00:08:07] [SPEAKER_01]: is that okay, whom I'm serving in every aspect of that.

[00:08:12] [SPEAKER_01]: I believe that the level of our success or expansion

[00:08:19] [SPEAKER_01]: or the development of a legacy or even accessing various degrees

[00:08:25] [SPEAKER_01]: of the business or businesses that we're involved in

[00:08:31] [SPEAKER_01]: is directly connected to who we're serving

[00:08:36] [SPEAKER_01]: and if we're a slave, that means we are owned by the one who has purchased us.

[00:08:45] [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm just leaving that out there for your thought today

[00:08:49] [SPEAKER_01]: and not to kill out your thoughts.

[00:08:52] [SPEAKER_02]: When we choose to serve God, our approach to business changes dramatically

[00:08:58] [SPEAKER_02]: because we understand that it's not about us.

[00:09:03] [SPEAKER_02]: You see, when you have a servant's heart, when you are doing God's will

[00:09:08] [SPEAKER_02]: then your whole passion as a business owner is to add so much value

[00:09:14] [SPEAKER_02]: to the lives of people that you encounter that they want to give you money for it.

[00:09:21] [SPEAKER_02]: It's no longer trying to sell the sizzle.

[00:09:24] [SPEAKER_02]: When I was in sales, it was always sell the sizzle, right?

[00:09:28] [SPEAKER_02]: Features and benefits.

[00:09:29] [SPEAKER_02]: But when you're doing it from God's perspective,

[00:09:33] [SPEAKER_02]: you're looking to add value to their lives.

[00:09:37] [SPEAKER_02]: How do I improve their lives?

[00:09:39] [SPEAKER_02]: Because if you hold the belief that I do, which is God sent you to earth

[00:09:44] [SPEAKER_02]: to accomplish a purpose uniquely designed for you.

[00:09:49] [SPEAKER_02]: So even when we are going into business for ourselves,

[00:09:53] [SPEAKER_02]: it's about taking care of someone else.

[00:09:57] [SPEAKER_02]: It means prioritizing people over profit

[00:10:00] [SPEAKER_02]: and ensuring that our business practices reflect our commitment

[00:10:05] [SPEAKER_02]: to doing what is right in God's eye.

[00:10:08] [SPEAKER_02]: When God is our master,

[00:10:10] [SPEAKER_02]: we view our business not just as a way to make money,

[00:10:14] [SPEAKER_02]: but as a platform to serve others and contribute to the common good.

[00:10:20] [SPEAKER_02]: Because if we're to have dominion, then that dominion includes the marketplace.

[00:10:25] [SPEAKER_02]: And this doesn't mean that we neglect profitability,

[00:10:29] [SPEAKER_02]: but a successful business is one that can sustain itself and grow.

[00:10:34] [SPEAKER_02]: But it doesn't mean that profit is not our ultimate motive.

[00:10:38] [SPEAKER_02]: Instead, aim to glorify God through our work using those resources and opportunities.

[00:10:46] [SPEAKER_02]: Then he will provide and make that positive impact

[00:10:50] [SPEAKER_02]: because only God can give the increase.

[00:10:54] [SPEAKER_01]: And that's a powerful, powerful statement and thought that you shared.

[00:11:00] [SPEAKER_01]: It's amazing how challenging it is to be a businessman

[00:11:09] [SPEAKER_01]: and walk by faith and not by sight as we had previously talked about in another broadcast.

[00:11:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Because the idea of putting God first in our business,

[00:11:26] [SPEAKER_01]: it takes thought, it takes humility, it takes the willingness to surrender.

[00:11:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Or because we talked about KPIs or key performance indicators before

[00:11:39] [SPEAKER_01]: and things how we measure our business and our success

[00:11:42] [SPEAKER_01]: and generally in the business world it's measured by the amount of profit that you make

[00:11:46] [SPEAKER_01]: as well as revenue that is generated on a weekly, monthly, quarterly basis and so on

[00:11:53] [SPEAKER_01]: and we're constantly having those kind of meetings.

[00:11:56] [SPEAKER_01]: I just wrote an article the other day about the challenges between operations and sales within an organization

[00:12:05] [SPEAKER_01]: and how come they're always at odds with one another

[00:12:08] [SPEAKER_01]: because one's a number cruncher and the other one is dealing from a creative perspective

[00:12:14] [SPEAKER_01]: like how do I get more in there and so on

[00:12:17] [SPEAKER_01]: and then they're asking why aren't you at this particular point and so on

[00:12:20] [SPEAKER_01]: but when you are looking at it from a kingdom perspective

[00:12:27] [SPEAKER_01]: it's almost like cheating because you're trusting God, the creator of all creation with your business.

[00:12:41] [SPEAKER_01]: You're letting him lead you so therefore one of the challenges is you not taking back control

[00:12:49] [SPEAKER_01]: you putting it in his hands and trusting him for the knowledge that you need

[00:12:57] [SPEAKER_01]: the wisdom to apply the knowledge and the actual might that is needed to carry it forth

[00:13:07] [SPEAKER_01]: although up to the very minute you may not know what you need to know

[00:13:12] [SPEAKER_01]: or how to apply what you already know until the last moment.

[00:13:17] [SPEAKER_01]: This is a faith walk. This is a spiritual thing

[00:13:22] [SPEAKER_01]: and this is why we're addressing this today between God and mammon.

[00:13:27] [SPEAKER_01]: These are spirit forces so I'm convinced that it is essential for us to find out how we can ascend

[00:13:39] [SPEAKER_01]: above every circumstance, every situation facing our business

[00:13:44] [SPEAKER_01]: no matter what it's looking like, no matter what the market says

[00:13:48] [SPEAKER_01]: you know the moment that people come to us and bring us about the market

[00:13:53] [SPEAKER_01]: are we reading about the market have we really taken our eyes off of God

[00:13:59] [SPEAKER_01]: and put it on the natural realm and we're leaning towards mammon

[00:14:04] [SPEAKER_01]: because God has his own economy and then there's a thing of faith

[00:14:08] [SPEAKER_01]: and our trust in him that he is going to provide a way of escape

[00:14:15] [SPEAKER_01]: and he said you know keep your eyes on him.

[00:14:20] [SPEAKER_01]: So keeping our eyes on him was or the scripture says set your affections on things above

[00:14:29] [SPEAKER_01]: and I like to add into that and keep it there

[00:14:33] [SPEAKER_01]: to be able to ascend and keep ascending.

[00:14:39] [SPEAKER_01]: We understand what the challenges may be especially with the economic downturn

[00:14:45] [SPEAKER_01]: that we have been facing and all of the inflationary things that are going on

[00:14:50] [SPEAKER_01]: everything has changed and is steadily changing.

[00:14:54] [SPEAKER_01]: We're having various projections to the end of this year already getting projections

[00:14:58] [SPEAKER_01]: for as 2025 what things are going to look like, where his indicators are coming forward

[00:15:04] [SPEAKER_01]: life is a self-fulfilling prophecy.

[00:15:07] [SPEAKER_01]: So the question is who are we listening to?

[00:15:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Who are we a slave to?

[00:15:12] [SPEAKER_02]: That's right, that's right.

[00:15:14] [SPEAKER_02]: You know choosing to serve God and business also has tangible benefits

[00:15:18] [SPEAKER_02]: both spiritual and practical.

[00:15:21] [SPEAKER_02]: When we operate with integrity and put people first

[00:15:24] [SPEAKER_02]: we build trust with our customers, employees and partners.

[00:15:29] [SPEAKER_02]: This trust is a foundation for long-term success and sustainability.

[00:15:34] [SPEAKER_02]: Moreover when we align our businesses with God's values

[00:15:38] [SPEAKER_02]: we experience a sense of peace and fulfillment that comes from knowing we're doing what's right

[00:15:44] [SPEAKER_02]: even when it's not the easiest path.

[00:15:48] [SPEAKER_02]: You know the thing that always tickles me about financial projections

[00:15:53] [SPEAKER_02]: is that if you considered it from a Christian standpoint

[00:15:58] [SPEAKER_02]: pretty arrogant.

[00:16:00] [SPEAKER_02]: We have no idea if we'll be alive 15 minutes from now.

[00:16:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Never mind what's going to happen five years from now.

[00:16:09] [SPEAKER_02]: So as Bishop Jackson was saying when we put God first

[00:16:14] [SPEAKER_02]: we are saying we believe that you have the path to the level of success that we want

[00:16:21] [SPEAKER_02]: and we don't necessarily have an idea of how he'll get us there.

[00:16:26] [SPEAKER_02]: You know you may have a graduate degree in marketing

[00:16:29] [SPEAKER_02]: and find yourself as a chicken farmer because that's what he needed you to be

[00:16:35] [SPEAKER_02]: and you have to have that level of flexibility even in business.

[00:16:40] [SPEAKER_02]: I know that we have our strategic plans and our business plans

[00:16:43] [SPEAKER_02]: and we're going to do this by year one, we're going to do this by year three

[00:16:47] [SPEAKER_02]: but for you to live the abundant life that Jesus describes to you

[00:16:53] [SPEAKER_02]: you have to let him guide.

[00:16:57] [SPEAKER_02]: Let him guide and our responsibility is to whatever gifts he's given us

[00:17:03] [SPEAKER_02]: to maximize every bit of knowledge we have against that.

[00:17:07] [SPEAKER_02]: So well not against it but to fortify it.

[00:17:12] [SPEAKER_02]: So if your gift is encouragement then read about emotional intelligence

[00:17:18] [SPEAKER_02]: read about relational intelligence, read about spiritual intelligence

[00:17:22] [SPEAKER_02]: and then as your acumen grows then he'll show you directions that your business can go in

[00:17:27] [SPEAKER_02]: that you may not have ever considered.

[00:17:30] [SPEAKER_02]: You know God's principles are timeless

[00:17:33] [SPEAKER_02]: and they lead to practices that foster loyalty and community and resilience.

[00:17:38] [SPEAKER_02]: A business that serves God is one that attracts people, customers and employees alike

[00:17:45] [SPEAKER_02]: who value trust, respect and purpose.

[00:17:49] [SPEAKER_02]: In the end such a business is often more successful because it's built on a solid, enduring foundation.

[00:17:58] [SPEAKER_01]: And the only way to have that solid and enduring foundation is to be in Christ.

[00:18:07] [SPEAKER_01]: That new creation.

[00:18:09] [SPEAKER_01]: So therefore it's almost like telling you that take everything else and throw it out the window

[00:18:14] [SPEAKER_01]: that you knew before that in order to be able to get that blow your own mind out

[00:18:20] [SPEAKER_01]: get it out of the way and what have you.

[00:18:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Refusing to conform to this world but now being transformed by the renewing of our mind right?

[00:18:27] [SPEAKER_01]: So scripture goes on this say let this mind be also in me that's in Christ Jesus.

[00:18:32] [SPEAKER_01]: So that's why I said before it's almost like cheating because if we get the mind of Christ in our business

[00:18:40] [SPEAKER_01]: we're not going to fail.

[00:18:42] [SPEAKER_01]: We're not going to lose.

[00:18:43] [SPEAKER_01]: We may see temporary setbacks but in the midst of different things

[00:18:48] [SPEAKER_01]: we're going to find out who we are really following.

[00:18:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Who are we really slave to?

[00:18:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Who is the actual owner of our lives?

[00:18:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Where is our true loyalties?

[00:19:01] [SPEAKER_01]: We know that we loyal to family, loyalty, you know different things in our cities and our communities and what have you

[00:19:08] [SPEAKER_01]: but is it not true that our loyalty has to be to God so that he can filter through us

[00:19:18] [SPEAKER_01]: to the other ones that we're loyal to to meet the conditions and the needs that are there.

[00:19:24] [SPEAKER_01]: I shared this story believe previously that I remember in my business I had grown to a certain point

[00:19:34] [SPEAKER_01]: and I was so excited about where I was headed.

[00:19:40] [SPEAKER_01]: And matter of fact I believe that I reached out to Dr. Kerr like that in a particular year

[00:19:43] [SPEAKER_01]: and I said to him on one projection to hit that million dollar mark and so on

[00:19:50] [SPEAKER_01]: and then we're going to be able to do that and I was so excited about it.

[00:19:53] [SPEAKER_01]: It was like oh my goodness and all of a sudden over a particular period the bottom fell out.

[00:20:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Lost two major clients.

[00:20:08] [SPEAKER_01]: And the interesting thing about that it there was no problems or arguments or that service

[00:20:16] [SPEAKER_01]: or gave them everything that I had and it was almost like riding that big wave in Maui

[00:20:29] [SPEAKER_01]: you know coming over and then you're just surfing and you're just feeling great

[00:20:33] [SPEAKER_01]: and you already got projections as to what you're going to do because this is about to change your entire life

[00:20:38] [SPEAKER_01]: and it's almost like this is what I have been waiting for.

[00:20:41] [SPEAKER_01]: This is it and you're visiting car dealerships.

[00:20:44] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure I'm the only person that's going to listen to this that did this time visiting car dealerships

[00:20:49] [SPEAKER_01]: and so I'm looking at various communities gated communities that you might want to move into.

[00:20:56] [SPEAKER_01]: But then when the bottom falls out and they say goodbye to you contact us if you need a reference

[00:21:09] [SPEAKER_01]: but why do I need a reference?

[00:21:13] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm your guy and I'm great wasn't we great together

[00:21:18] [SPEAKER_01]: and we did all of the things that we thought we were supposed to do.

[00:21:23] [SPEAKER_01]: You know keeping our name in front of the company getting in contact with all of the people

[00:21:28] [SPEAKER_01]: that were the decision makers in the company and so on in relationships

[00:21:32] [SPEAKER_01]: and the management and different things of that nature that they knew your name

[00:21:37] [SPEAKER_01]: and finding out birthdays finding out you did all the right things and still

[00:21:42] [SPEAKER_01]: but then you have to ask the question who's slave are you?

[00:21:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Because if you're a slave to man-man you might be ready to walk off the edge of a cliff

[00:21:53] [SPEAKER_01]: if you're a slave to God he's still God your heavenly Father

[00:21:57] [SPEAKER_01]: and as dark as it may appear to be.

[00:22:00] [SPEAKER_01]: I remember an old story that there were two things moving in the ocean

[00:22:08] [SPEAKER_01]: this one big ship was coming and was coming and he got in contact with it

[00:22:15] [SPEAKER_01]: the other day recognized that this other piece was there

[00:22:20] [SPEAKER_01]: and it's like okay this is captain so-and-so of the USS such-and-such

[00:22:24] [SPEAKER_01]: and you know we're coming this way and we're a big ocean like we've got this

[00:22:29] [SPEAKER_01]: and what have you and where you know you need to move out of our way and so on

[00:22:36] [SPEAKER_01]: and no communication came back then finally some communication came back

[00:22:43] [SPEAKER_01]: and it says this is captain so-and-so you need to move

[00:22:49] [SPEAKER_01]: and it's like no you don't understand who we are and what we're capable of

[00:22:56] [SPEAKER_01]: then it turns out it says you don't understand who we are and what we're capable of

[00:23:02] [SPEAKER_01]: and the end of the story it turns out that the ship that was coming in was coming towards a lighthouse

[00:23:07] [SPEAKER_01]: and the lighthouse was not going to move the ship needed to move

[00:23:13] [SPEAKER_01]: so when it's dark pitch dark sometimes

[00:23:19] [SPEAKER_01]: who's slave are you who's leading you are you properly discerning what you're up against

[00:23:31] [SPEAKER_01]: there's a great man of God that is going on he said you know look at the

[00:23:36] [SPEAKER_01]: bigness of your God as opposed to the bigness of your problem

[00:23:39] [SPEAKER_01]: if you can see the bigness of your problem you diminish the bigness of your God

[00:23:45] [SPEAKER_02]: yes yes and brothers and sisters as we reflect on Matthew 6 and 24

[00:23:52] [SPEAKER_02]: and the question who slaves are you let's consider what it means for our business lives

[00:23:58] [SPEAKER_02]: are we serving money driven by the pursuit of profit at all costs

[00:24:04] [SPEAKER_02]: or are we serving God using our business as a means to live out our faith

[00:24:09] [SPEAKER_02]: and make a positive impact on the world

[00:24:12] [SPEAKER_02]: the choice is yours but as Jesus warned we cannot serve two masters

[00:24:19] [SPEAKER_02]: today I encourage you to examine your priorities

[00:24:22] [SPEAKER_02]: make a commitment to serve God in your business

[00:24:25] [SPEAKER_02]: and experience the peace fulfillment and success that comes from aligning your work

[00:24:32] [SPEAKER_02]: with his values
