[00:00:37] Welcome to The Bible Speaks with your host Elgin Carelock.

[00:00:42] The Bible Speaks is a daily podcast dedicated to sharing the good news of Jesus Christ,

[00:00:49] rightly dividing the word of truth, and learning how to apply it to our daily lives.

[00:00:55] You may contact Elgin at the address given at the end of the broadcast.

[00:00:59] And now, here's Elgin.

[00:01:02] Brothers and sisters, I welcome you in the name of our risen Savior, Jesus the Christ,

[00:01:08] to another edition of The Bible Speaks.

[00:01:12] And today, our episode is titled, Much Is Required.

[00:01:19] Have you ever asked God for greater blessings in your life,

[00:01:23] only to realize that with those blessings come responsibilities that challenge you in unexpected ways?

[00:01:30] So we're going to explore how deepening our relationship with God brings not only great gifts, but also great responsibilities,

[00:01:41] often stretching us beyond what feels natural or comfortable.

[00:01:47] Hosea 3 and 1 is our inspirational scripture.

[00:01:51] And reading from the New International Version, it reads,

[00:01:55] The Lord said to me, Go, show your love to your wife again,

[00:02:00] though she is loved by another man and is an adulteress.

[00:02:05] Love her as the Lord loves the Israelites.

[00:02:09] When we seek God's blessings, we often imagine His goodness unfolding in ways that feel affirming and comfortable.

[00:02:17] Yet, scripture reminds us that God's greatest love often requires deeper commitment, personal sacrifice,

[00:02:25] and sometimes actions that feel contrary to our human nature.

[00:02:29] The story of Hosea and Gomer illustrates this powerfully.

[00:02:35] In Hosea 3 and 1, God commands the prophet Hosea to love and redeem his unfaithful wife Gomer,

[00:02:44] even after she has strayed far from their marriage.

[00:02:47] This was not just an act of personal forgiveness,

[00:02:50] but a prophetic demonstration of God's unwavering love for His people,

[00:02:55] despite their repeated unfaithfulness.

[00:02:59] Hosea's call wasn't easy.

[00:03:02] Loving someone who continually betrayed him required a level of faithfulness and emotional endurance

[00:03:08] that defied human reasoning.

[00:03:11] Yet, God wasn't just looking for Hosea's outward obedience.

[00:03:15] He was after his heart.

[00:03:17] Was he following God's command out of obligation or fear?

[00:03:23] Or was he loving Gomer as a reflection of his love for God?

[00:03:29] When God blesses us with influence, relationships, or even material prosperity,

[00:03:35] He also invites us into a deeper relationship with Him.

[00:03:39] That deepening requires sacrificial love.

[00:03:43] In Hosea 3 and 1, it shows Hosea loving Gomer despite her unfaithful love.

[00:03:51] You simply click on God's faith in life to humans,

[00:03:52] But when that's the first one Massive is known Dr.

[00:03:52] 2 and 1, it shows that it is a strong man to be raised,

[00:03:53] It is life in life for you, or what you believe is.

[00:03:54] In the same way, it shows us a strong man to be raised.

[00:03:58] And the same words that do not be raised as a strong man,

[00:04:07] That's the same way that I'm able to carry out the shame of God's phone.

[00:04:12] It's the same faith in Jesus.

[00:04:14] Now in the same name, it shows us not a long man to be raised in person.

[00:04:17] Whosedomes are encouraged to be raised as an early man that knows

[00:04:20] to clothe themselves in compassion, kindness, and patience,

[00:04:24] emphasizing love as a choice rather than a reaction,

[00:04:30] and spiritual maturity.

[00:04:33] Luke 12 and 48 reminds us that to whom much is given,

[00:04:37] much will be required.

[00:04:40] James 1 verse 2 through 4 explains

[00:04:42] how trials refine our character

[00:04:45] and produce spiritual maturity,

[00:04:48] preparing us for greater responsibility.

[00:04:51] So how do we respond today?

[00:04:54] If we were to apply the principles

[00:04:57] that we're reading in Hosea 3 and 1,

[00:04:59] we have three areas where we need to respond to God

[00:05:04] based on our relationship.

[00:05:08] And through that, we are to analyze our motivations.

[00:05:12] So number one, are you being obedient

[00:05:15] or is it heart alignment?

[00:05:18] When facing challenges in relationships

[00:05:20] or leadership,

[00:05:22] are we merely fulfilling obligations

[00:05:24] or is our heart fully surrendered to God's purpose?

[00:05:29] 1 Samuel 16 and 7 reminds us that God looks at the heart,

[00:05:34] not outward actions.

[00:05:37] Are we demonstrating perseverance versus release?

[00:05:42] Sometimes God calls us to persevere like Hosea.

[00:05:46] Other times, he's silent,

[00:05:49] leaving us to seek the Holy Spirit's wisdom

[00:05:52] to discern whether to continue or release a difficult situation.

[00:05:57] Galatians 6 and 9 urges us not to grow weary in doing good,

[00:06:01] while Ecclesiastes 3 and 1 reminds us there's a season for everything.

[00:06:08] And finally, are we trusting the process?

[00:06:12] Even when God's instructions seem difficult or unclear,

[00:06:17] he calls us to trust that his plans are for our good and his glory.

[00:06:23] Isaiah 55 verses 8 through 9 emphasizes God's ways being higher.

[00:06:31] The call to be faithful in the face of personal difficulty

[00:06:34] reveals the depth of our relationship with God.

[00:06:38] Just as Hosea's faithfulness reveals God's heart for Israel,

[00:06:43] our obedience in difficult season speaks volumes about our trust in God's goodness.

[00:06:49] So I leave you with this question.

[00:06:52] When much is required of you,

[00:06:54] will you respond out of obligation or out of love?

[00:07:00] I thank you for spending time with me on today

[00:07:03] and I look forward to our conversation on tomorrow.

[00:07:06] Until then, God bless.
