[00:00:00] Let us pray, pray together on our knees

[00:00:07] Let us pray, pray together on our knees

[00:00:14] When I fall on my knees with my face to the rising sun

[00:00:21] Oh Lord, never see all the knees

[00:00:27] Welcome to the Bible Speaks with Elgin Carelock

[00:00:30] The Bible Speaks is a weekly ministry of Harvest International

[00:00:33] Our prayer is that the Bible Speaks will encourage you in your study of God's word

[00:00:38] You will be able to contact Elgin at the address given at the end of this broadcast

[00:00:44] And now, here's Elgin

[00:00:46] Brothers and sisters, I welcome you in the name of our risen Savior, Jesus to Christ

[00:00:52] And today I have a treat for you

[00:00:55] I have the opportunity and pleasure to have as my guest today

[00:01:01] My partner in the spirit

[00:01:04] My wife for nearly 38 years now, Judy Carelock

[00:01:08] We are going to discuss a scripture that is dear to her heart

[00:01:15] And the topic will be, His peace is different

[00:01:21] Our inspirational scripture is John chapter 14 verse 27

[00:01:29] And I'll ask Sister Judy to read it for you

[00:01:32] Hello everyone, John 14-27

[00:01:36] Peace, I leave you

[00:01:39] My peace I give you

[00:01:41] I do not give to you as the world gives

[00:01:45] Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid

[00:01:50] The conversation we are discussing in John 14 was during the Last Supper

[00:01:57] The mood among the disciples was one of confusion, anxiety and deep sadness

[00:02:04] Jesus had just revealed that one of them would betray him

[00:02:09] And that he would soon leave them

[00:02:11] Which was not only unsettling news but disrupted their expectations of a triumphant messianic kingdom

[00:02:19] The atmosphere was heavy with the weight of these revelations

[00:02:23] And the disciples grappled with a mix of emotions as they struggled to comprehend the full implication of Jesus' words

[00:02:33] Adding to their distress, Jesus also spoke of Peter's upcoming denial

[00:02:39] Amidst this turmoil, Jesus offered words of comfort and reassurance

[00:02:44] Promising the coming of the Holy Spirit as a helper and speaking of peace that he would leave with them

[00:02:52] This combination of troubling predictions and comforting promises created a tense atmosphere

[00:03:00] Filled with uncertainty yet clinging to the hope embedded in Jesus' assurances of divine provision and support

[00:03:09] The peace Jesus refers to is profoundly different from the common understanding of peace

[00:03:16] Unlike the temporary and often superficial peace the world offers, which is usually dependent on circumstances

[00:03:25] Jesus' peace is deep and enduring

[00:03:29] It is not contingent on external situations but is an intrinsic quality that sustains the believer even in times of great distress or turmoil

[00:03:40] This peace is rooted in the trust and security found in a relationship with God through Christ

[00:03:48] Jesus' peace involves a sense of spiritual and emotional tranquility that comes from knowing God's love

[00:03:57] and having the assurance of salvation

[00:04:00] It encompasses a sense of order and purpose that transcends earthly concerns

[00:04:07] Providing comfort and stability amid life's uncertainties

[00:04:12] This peace allows believers to maintain a calm and composed spirit even when facing adversity

[00:04:20] Philippians 4 verse 7 tells us,

[00:04:24] And the peace of God which passeth all understanding shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus

[00:04:32] But how do we get that peace?

[00:04:35] How do we tap into the peace Jesus is describing when life be life-in?

[00:04:42] Judy share your thoughts and what you do to overcome the feelings of doubt, stress and anxiety

[00:04:51] Well as you mentioned the peace of God to me is a superior peace

[00:04:57] It's just above and beyond anything that we can achieve here on earth

[00:05:05] As you said it's not situational, it's not based on your circumstances or what's going on around you

[00:05:11] It's peace that is given to you by God to calm you, to relieve you, to decrease your stress

[00:05:22] And knowing that it is from God it just really relaxes and helps you to understand that his peace is above anything else you could possibly have

[00:05:36] Amen, amen

[00:05:38] And perhaps Philippians 4 verse 6 has the answer reading it from the English Standard Version

[00:05:48] It says, do not be anxious about anything but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving

[00:05:59] Let your requests be made known to God

[00:06:03] And making sure that we understand the words that we are using

[00:06:07] Supplication refers to making humble and earnest appeals or requests to God

[00:06:14] Often in the context of prayer that expresses deep and personal need, penitence or urgent desire for God's intervention and guidance

[00:06:25] When Jesus speaks these words he is actually aware of the confusion and fear that will soon engulf his disciples

[00:06:34] His crucifixion would shake the very foundation of their faith and could potentially lead them into despair

[00:06:42] By promising his peace Jesus assures them that they will not be abandoned

[00:06:48] And that his presence through the Holy Spirit will continue to be with them after his physical departure

[00:06:55] This promise is crucial for preparing the disciples to carry on his ministry and to face the coming challenges without losing heart

[00:07:05] And the same is true for us today

[00:07:08] Just as Jesus promised the Holy Spirit will be the disciples' comforter, he is the same for us today

[00:07:17] When we are faced with challenges that feel beyond our capability, we must lean on the Word of God and allow the knowledge of his plan to prosper us and not to harm us

[00:07:29] Plans to give us hope and a future be the primary thought in our mind

[00:07:35] If you are unsure how to get there one way is to pray the Word of God

[00:07:41] Just as Jesus did in the wilderness with Satan

[00:07:45] We can use the Word to cast down negative thoughts

[00:07:50] Here are a few chapter and verses to remember when you are praying

[00:07:56] Jeremiah 29 and 11

[00:08:00] Matthew 11 and 28

[00:08:03] Romans 8 and 28

[00:08:07] John 8 verse 44

[00:08:10] And Psalm 34 chapter 19

[00:08:14] When Jesus says, Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you

[00:08:20] He is bestowing a profound spiritual gift that is essential for his followers' well-being and effectiveness in their mission

[00:08:29] This peace is a hallmark of the Christian experience, distinguishing it from all worldly comforts and reassuring believers of God's constant presence and unchanging love

[00:08:43] Brothers and sisters, I thank you once again for joining us and I look forward to our discussion on tomorrow. Until then, God bless

[00:09:13] I ask that you come from you and invite you to write us at Harvest International, Post Office Box 6690 Ocala, Florida 34478

[00:09:24] Again, that's Harvest International, Post Office Box 6690 Ocala, Florida 34478

[00:09:32] Come in home, come in home, never more too wrong

[00:09:51] Open wide, and on the love Lord I'm coming home
