The Bible Speaks - Fellowship

For some people, your fellowship may be their first real encounter with the character of God. Before they ever believe a sermon, they may first experience His love through your patience. [00:00:37] Welcome to The Bible Speaks with your host Elgin Carelock. The Bible Speaks is a daily podcast dedicated to sharing the good news of Jesus Christ, rightly dividing the word of truth, and learning how to apply it to our daily lives. You may contact Elgin at the address given at the end of the broadcast. And now, here's Elgin.

[00:01:02] Brothers and sisters, I welcome you in the name of Yeshua HaMashiach to another edition of The Bible Speaks, where we're studying God's word together. Today's discussion is titled, Fellowship. Our scriptural inspiration comes from 1 Thessalonians 5, verse 11.

[00:01:30] And reading from the New Living Translation, it reads, So encourage each other, and build each other up, just as you're already doing. In a world that seems to move faster every day, that verse feels more necessary than ever. Technology moves quickly, culture changes constantly, and many people are trying to keep up on the outside,

[00:01:59] while quietly falling apart on the inside. But in times like these, God does not call us to isolate. He calls us to fellowship. Let us pray. Heavenly Father, thank you for being our source, our peace, and our strength. Open our hearts today to understand the beauty and power of true fellowship.

[00:02:27] Teach us to love one another well, to notice those who are hurting, and to become vessels through which your comfort, encouragement, and grace can flow. Let this word strengthen us, and make us more available to you. In Jesus Christ's name we pray. Amen. Fellowship is more than gathering in the same room.

[00:02:52] It's more than shaking hands after service, exchanging greetings, or saying, I'll be praying for you. True fellowship is spiritual partnership. It's choosing to walk closely enough with people that you can help carry their burdens. Strengthen their faith. And reflect the love of God in a practical way. That is why fellowship matters so much right now. The world is changing rapidly.

[00:03:22] And with that comes emotional strain, financial strain, family strain, and spiritual fatigue. Many people are smiling in the public while struggling in private. But when we make time to truly be with one another, we begin to notice what words often hide. We hear the pause in someone's voice. We see the weariness behind the smile.

[00:03:50] We sense the heaviness they don't know how to explain. This is where the love of God becomes visible. Galatians 6 verse 2 tells us, Share each other's burden and in this way obey the law of Christ. That means sometimes the answer to someone's prayer is not just a miracle from heaven that drops into their lap. Sometimes the answer is a person led by the Spirit.

[00:04:20] Sometimes God sends encouragement through a conversation. He sends provision through generosity. He sends healing through the ministry of presence. Through someone who simply sits, listens, loves, and refuses to let a hurting person suffer alone. God is our source. But he often uses his people as his delivery system.

[00:04:47] There are people praying right now for a breakthrough. And God may use you as a part of the answer. But you will not know that if you never slow down long enough to fellowship. You will not recognize their need if all your relationships are surface level. Fellowship creates room for discernment. It allows us to perceive trials even when people do not speak them aloud.

[00:05:15] Job chapter 6 verse 14a reminds us, One should be kind to the fainting friend. This is a simple verse, but it carries deep truth. Sometimes people do not need your advice first. Sometimes they need your kindness, your consistency, and a safe place. They need to know they can be honest without being judged, and can rest in the presence of people who carry God's heart.

[00:05:45] That connects with what we have touched on before in Filled with Power. The Holy Spirit does not only empower us to endure our lives. He empowers us to strengthen others. He gives us supernatural sensitivity, wisdom, patience, and compassion so that we can show up in ways that go beyond human ability.

[00:06:09] In our own strength, we may overlook people, rush past them, or feel too drained to care. But when we walk in the Spirit, God gives us the capacity to love people well. Fellowship also gives us the opportunity to share testimonies. When believers come together and talk honestly about what God has done, faith grows.

[00:06:35] One person's story of deliverance becomes another person's reason to keep going. One person's testimony of provision becomes another person's reminder that God still sees. One person's healing becomes another person's hope. Psalm 145 verse 4 reads, Let each generation tell its children of your mighty acts. Let them proclaim your power.

[00:07:05] Fellowship is one of the places where that happens. We remind one another, God was faithful then, and he will be faithful now. And this matters not only for believers, but for those who do not yet know the Lord. For some people, your fellowship may be their first real encounter with the character of God. Before they ever believe a sermon, they may first experience his love through your patience.

[00:07:35] Before they trust scripture, they may first see his kindness through your care. Before they enter a church, they may first encounter his peace in the safety of your presence. That's why fellowship is a ministry. It's one of the ways the body of Christ survives hard seasons, and one of the ways the world sees Jesus clearly.

[00:08:00] Hebrews chapter 10 verses 24 through 25 reminds us to think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works, and not to neglect meeting together. Why? Because we need each other. God designs us that way. So today, make room for people. Call someone. Check on someone. Invite someone in.

[00:08:28] Listen longer. Pray with someone. Share your testimony. Be available to encourage, to strengthen, and to love. Because in a fast-moving world full of overwhelmed hearts, fellowship is one of God's ways of bringing rest, healing, and hope.

[00:08:51] And you may discover that while you're trying to bless someone else, God will strengthen you too. Father God, thank you for the gift of fellowship. Forgive us for times when we've been too busy, too distracted, or too guarded to truly be present with others. Help us to slow down and see people the way you see them.

[00:09:17] Make us sensitive to those who are struggling, and use us as instruments of encouragement, peace, and love. Let our homes, churches, and conversations be safe places where people can find strength and rest in you. And through fellowship, let others encounter your faithfulness and your heart. In Jesus Christ's name we pray. Amen.

[00:09:46] I thank you for spending time with me on today, and I look forward to our conversation next Sunday. Until then, God bless. The Bible Speaks is sponsored by C Squared Realty and New Gen Construction Group to help spread the gospel to the corners of the earth.
