A firefighter looking for a young boy in a burning home is shoved and guided by an unseen force leading him to the child. Nick lived the 'Fast Life' straight to alcoholism and drug addiction. After encountering life-altering truths, he is living a new kind of Fast Life.
00:00:01
Gosh, let's go back over to see. It's like 2006, I've been on the
00:00:08
firefight, I've been a firefighter on Pueblo fire
00:00:10
department for not quite a year and you know just came out of
00:00:16
training, you know, actually was on a rural fire department for
00:00:20
that. So tons of training in the books
00:00:25
you know, live-fire trainings all these different things that
00:00:27
we were doing so you Have the rules ingrained into you at that
00:00:32
point. And the rule is to into outright
00:00:34
when you go in searching a fire, you're with your partner,
00:00:38
there's two of you, you're crawling on the ground holding
00:00:43
onto the foot or the ankle of the of the guy who's leading.
00:00:48
You know it you're going in as a team.
00:00:52
What we got to this fire and I was on the truck that day and We
00:00:58
got there. We literally got, you know, that
00:01:00
the 911 call the dispatchers are coming across.
00:01:03
And we have a five-year-old boy stuck inside the fire.
00:01:08
So, everybody's on, you know, high alert like the the emotions
00:01:12
are running High adrenaline's pumping.
00:01:17
So it's just a little tiny house on the east side of town and I
00:01:22
as a truckie at the time, I job was ventilation first.
00:01:26
So we set a fan at the front door.
00:01:29
And I ran round the back to make sure that there was an opening
00:01:33
for to exhaust. Basically, the back half of the
00:01:35
house has already burned off. So there's plenty of an opening
00:01:38
in there and so we run back to the front, the engineers wanting
00:01:43
to set up a ladder and I just keep getting pushed like I'm
00:01:47
going inside because when we pulled up, there was actually
00:01:50
somebody standing on the sidewalk who essentially pulled
00:01:53
me out of the truck and said, he's in the back bedroom, he's
00:01:56
in the back bedroom. That's rushing through my mind.
00:02:00
So I have a partner with me and I finally just kind of shrugged
00:02:04
off the engineer and said we're going inside, and he's like,
00:02:07
well, whatever. And so me and the partner go in
00:02:10
and we begin crawling underneath to her the back bedroom.
00:02:14
And as we get in the back bedroom, we find that there's a,
00:02:20
if not one other company, there may have even been to other
00:02:23
companies in this little tiny bedroom with the back of the
00:02:25
house. And so it was kind of like the
00:02:29
This is it. Well, you know, nothing's going
00:02:32
to happen, they're going to find him, you know, let's go back out
00:02:37
and help help the engineers set up the ladder.
00:02:40
And so we turned, we switch positions now.
00:02:43
So I was leading and he was grabbing on a, my ankle and now
00:02:47
we've turned around and he's leading us out of the house.
00:02:52
Unless we go past this one opened or something essentially.
00:02:58
I say something because of the time like I wouldn't say I was
00:03:02
an unbeliever but I definitely wasn't a follower.
00:03:06
I had zero relationship. I had more questions and I had
00:03:09
anything else, you know? So I say something hit me in the
00:03:15
chest and basically stopped me dead in my tracks and turned me
00:03:19
into this room. I fully let go of my partner's
00:03:22
foot. And I turned by myself.
00:03:25
So I guess I had just come out of training, you know, we have,
00:03:30
you know, a solid year of the do's and don'ts of firefighting
00:03:34
at this point and I let go of my partner and I turned by myself
00:03:39
into a room and as I went into that room all of a sudden,
00:03:43
somebody else grabbed ahold of my ankle and ended up being
00:03:46
another firefighter from a completely different company who
00:03:50
somehow just managed to follow me.
00:03:53
To a rumor, grab ahold of my ankle as we search through that
00:03:58
room, you know, doing the we're doing a left, sweep staying on
00:04:02
the left wall and I came across this little boy and we pulled
00:04:08
them out of the fire for the longest time.
00:04:10
I I think I knew like, I knew that it was something greater
00:04:15
than me, but I didn't necessarily want to say that,
00:04:20
that was God. But as you look at it now like
00:04:24
there's no other explanation for it like it literally was like a,
00:04:32
you know, that it was it was it was a presence that literally
00:04:36
stopped me from doing what I was doing and turned me into what I
00:04:40
wasn't supposed to do. But Leave.
00:04:43
What was the saving Saving Grace if you will, for this little
00:04:47
boy's life. Yeah.
00:04:50
Where you're at now, looking back.
00:04:55
Saying, you know, you think it was something Divine to God?
00:04:58
What specifically do you think could have happened?
00:05:01
If you could see, you know, spiritually had spiritual eyes
00:05:06
on? What do you think happened at
00:05:08
that moment? You know, the Holy Spirit
00:05:12
intervened, you know, we live in a spiritual realm, I think is so
00:05:19
so hard for people to see it sometimes, especially when
00:05:22
you're stuck in the world and you're focused on things of the
00:05:24
world and we think things are good things or bad things or why
00:05:28
do these things happen? Well, you know, the there's a
00:05:31
spiritual battle going on around us at all times and I believe
00:05:34
that the Holy Spirits with us and guiding us and, you know, we
00:05:37
can go further into crazy stories of my life.
00:05:41
Where I know that the Holy Spirit was always listen to me.
00:05:45
He was always with me. God was always with me if you
00:05:49
will, he just, I wasn't always listening.
00:05:51
When at this moment the Holy Spirit was was with me and
00:05:55
turned me into doing what what they need to do to be done to
00:05:59
save this little boy's life. So this is a probably throw you
00:06:06
off a little bit big life question.
00:06:09
But, you know, in a bigger situation, let's say a 911.
00:06:13
Lots of firefighters, lots of tragedy going on, a lot of
00:06:17
horrific situations and headlines and books are being
00:06:21
written afterwards and articles of where was God, you know, why
00:06:25
would this even happened? But yet internally, you hear
00:06:30
lots of similar stories like yours.
00:06:33
I felt guided, I felt pushed I suddenly knew where somebody
00:06:37
was. Some people call it Angelic
00:06:42
interventions, so you get the questions of an outsider of what
00:06:49
you are describing. Let's say, unbeliever or
00:06:50
whatever. Who would say, why did the fire
00:06:54
happened in the first place if God's real if God's real and
00:06:58
loving, why did he have a kid terrified in a corner in the
00:07:02
first place and have a fire happen?
00:07:05
Just why do you think What do you think would be an answer to
00:07:10
that? I know it's a big question, but
00:07:14
the intervention of God and circumstances in general
00:07:18
happening But yet the stories of some Force stopping you and
00:07:25
pushing you in a different direction to save an individual
00:07:27
life and lots of individual lives, don't get saved.
00:07:33
Well, I mean that's a, that's a big one, right?
00:07:35
So the big one. I don't think it could answer
00:07:37
maybe but just a thought. Yeah, I'm going to have some
00:07:40
ideas on it, for sure. I think the biggest one you have
00:07:43
to look at is that, you know, being a pastor now, and the road
00:07:47
that I've been on you, that's scratching the surface that was
00:07:49
before addiction, that was when I was still on the right path.
00:07:52
As A Firefighter before, I became an alcoholic before we
00:07:55
came in addict and I know so much more nowadays.
00:08:00
But the biggest one I think the The big thing is that the Free
00:08:05
Will part of it, right? Like God is always there for us,
00:08:08
but he also gave us free, will, he gave us the ability to make a
00:08:12
decision on whether or not we were going to follow him going
00:08:16
to abide uninvite in him or not and we're doing that.
00:08:21
We have a sinful nature, right? Where we've all Fallen when Adam
00:08:24
and Eve fell in the garden that started The sinful nature that
00:08:30
that we all are born into and we have free will and whether or
00:08:35
not we want to follow God or not.
00:08:36
As far as you know why wasn't God there in 911 or why was God
00:08:42
not there for this little boy? You know, I read an article a
00:08:50
while ago and I can't even tell you where I read it.
00:08:54
I wish I could because I think I think I've been awesome.
00:08:56
I for everybody to read but it really talked about.
00:08:59
We often we often say where was God?
00:09:05
In this or where was God, and out of why wasn't God there?
00:09:08
Why did God do that? And the article really pushed on
00:09:11
the fact that we've taken God, out of everything, we've taken
00:09:16
God, out of schools, we've taken God out of the workplace, we've
00:09:19
taken God out of the home. We continue to remove God from
00:09:24
our daily life, but then we say well, why wasn't God there?
00:09:28
And that was an interesting one to me and I don't know whether
00:09:30
that's right or wrong of the theologies 100% corrector or how
00:09:34
that is. But if we continue to replace
00:09:37
him, if we could take him out a national anthems, if we take him
00:09:40
off the dollar bill. If we do all these things, you
00:09:42
know, who are we serving? You know, we know that the ruler
00:09:47
of this world is the enemy, it's not God but in the, you know,
00:09:53
Millennial reign will come and Jesus will return.
00:09:57
And these things Happen. But right now we're living in
00:10:00
Satan's world and we continue to remove God from it.
00:10:03
The best we can, however, we can and governments and schools and
00:10:08
homes. So I don't know if that's why
00:10:11
God wasn't there in those situations, but I know that in
00:10:16
9/11 in this act, you know, he give them free will that this
00:10:21
story happens to go with this little boy that it was shortly
00:10:26
after Fourth of July. The boy was playing with some
00:10:29
fireworks on the back deck. The back deck of this house
00:10:33
happened to be a very old rotted out wood that was, you know,
00:10:38
really, really dry and the back porch starts on fire.
00:10:44
Dad was in the shower. Dad grabbed the dog and ran out
00:10:49
of the house. Thinking the boy was outside.
00:10:52
And I always thought it was interesting because the kind of
00:10:56
the credit was given to a passerby and this is you know,
00:10:59
more free will why did this happen?
00:11:01
We could we could dig into this for four hours as to the why.
00:11:05
But I remember the newspaper article almost word for word
00:11:09
said, The victims life was likely saved by The passerby Who
00:11:15
Threw a brick through the window, which supplied
00:11:18
supplemental oxygen to the to the boy, so he could live.
00:11:23
And as firefighters, we all chuckled at that a little bit
00:11:26
because the essentially, the passerby who threw the brick
00:11:29
through the window is, is who almost killed him because the
00:11:34
boy had the boy happened to be right underneath the window and
00:11:39
the brick. Actually cause all the smoke to
00:11:42
come right through him. That's what was, you know, he
00:11:46
was hiding because he was scared and when that brick went to the
00:11:50
window, all the smoke came right into the room.
00:11:52
You know, why wasn't God there in that situation?
00:11:56
You know? I don't know.
00:11:57
Yeah. But I believe that, you know,
00:12:01
the Bible tells us that his thoughts are greater than our
00:12:04
thoughts, buddy? That's nice.
00:12:07
Am 53. And he talks about, You know,
00:12:11
his thoughts are greater than our thoughts.
00:12:13
His plans are greater than our plans.
00:12:15
I can't, and our brains are just too puny.
00:12:17
Like, we put ourselves on this pedestal, like we should be able
00:12:20
to figure all of this out and we have the answers, God doesn't.
00:12:25
But man, we're very small. Like, we can't put God in a box
00:12:30
and I believe that everything he does has a greater purpose in
00:12:34
it, and maybe I'm living that right now, you know, when he
00:12:39
turned me into that. We'll leave it at that point in
00:12:42
time, like I didn't know him, I didn't have relationship with
00:12:45
them that whole circumstance happened because now I can look
00:12:50
back and go, wow, like God's been with me my entire life?
00:12:53
Even through my addiction, God was with me, and now we're on
00:12:55
this side and the little boy who lived, you know, survived, you
00:13:02
know, was a spiritual war for those happen.
00:13:04
A little boys doing with what little boys do, right?
00:13:06
Like, how many times did you play with fireworks as a kid
00:13:09
when you weren't supposed to? Like, We all do it.
00:13:13
We all do these things, that that we should be doing, we test
00:13:17
the limits. We see how far we can push
00:13:20
things. Yeah, God Isn't Our person
00:13:22
running out and putting out, literally, our fires all the
00:13:25
time. And I think the question I asked
00:13:27
or brought up, where was God, it's really a religious
00:13:30
question. It's coming from the outside.
00:13:33
Assuming God is around, maybe he's at church when you go
00:13:39
there. But why didn't he?
00:13:41
Home, do something as opposed to God's omnipresent, but he's
00:13:46
working through his people. And if he wants to save a child,
00:13:52
he may not have been a Believer yet.
00:13:54
But maybe the child was, or maybe who knows, maybe the
00:13:57
childhood Destiny honor. Maybe it was for a lesson for
00:13:59
you, but intervention through people.
00:14:03
Yeah, yeah, omnipresent right. God is everywhere always with
00:14:10
us. yeah, I wish you know I wish my brain could comprehend and
00:14:16
understand why and I think in this day and age it's it's
00:14:19
easier for people to just two You know, believe that he wasn't
00:14:25
there, he doesn't exist, then to try to really dive deep into why
00:14:29
it is the way it is, right? So I don't want to skate over
00:14:33
the fact that you mentioned Three things in passing and it's
00:14:38
a lot more than passing that your pastor addict alcoholic.
00:14:44
I think I picked up all three of those.
00:14:46
Yeah, so you're what you use the term fast life, you may be using
00:14:56
it for what you're doing now, but what does that mean in
00:15:00
reference or why do you use the words fast life?
00:15:04
I've If the fast life and I'm live in a fast life, they're two
00:15:09
different lives at this point, but I think in this world today
00:15:13
we're all running, whether whether we're running to God
00:15:20
from God or just running the race, that's in front of us.
00:15:23
Like we're running to work. We're running from our job to
00:15:28
our kids, baseball game to whatever it is like we have this
00:15:32
agenda that has this on this super fast pace, right?
00:15:36
Right. So that the idea of Fast Life
00:15:39
Ministries was kinda to try to just take Jesus with you, right
00:15:46
to whatever you're doing, wherever you're going with as
00:15:48
much as I love and here God telling me slow down, you know,
00:15:52
be still and know that I am God a lot.
00:15:56
Oftentimes in this world today it's hard for us to be still.
00:16:01
It's hard for us to slow down with so many things going on.
00:16:06
Distracted. We have cell phones.
00:16:07
Buzzing, and going off constantly, we have emails
00:16:10
dinging. We have a million different
00:16:13
things going on at once. So it's that's the kind of fast
00:16:16
life. I'm living now with my family
00:16:18
and full-time job. You know, owning a business as
00:16:23
well as a Ministry that is very much becoming full time at this
00:16:26
point. So I'm living the fast life and
00:16:30
I used to live a fast life. The fast like used to be drugs,
00:16:33
alcohol sex. Party.
00:16:37
Go, go, go, go go. And now it's just has a
00:16:40
different form and it's about taking Jesus with us. but what
00:16:47
brings you to that transfer is so If you're an alcoholic and
00:16:55
we're addicted to something, there's always kind of like a
00:17:00
mode of reaching for a higher power and even an exercise, I do
00:17:04
remember, remember Billy Blanks. We have those videos on all the
00:17:08
time. He was like a did boxing.
00:17:11
I forgot what it's called. People listening are going to
00:17:13
remember tie a bow tie ball, okay things.
00:17:17
Yep. And he would always say, okay
00:17:21
this is When it gets tough reach for your higher power and I feel
00:17:25
like, you know, there's a part of that whenever you're trying
00:17:27
to get over something tough, the worst part of exercise is
00:17:31
addictions. And so from the outside, you can
00:17:36
look and say, well, religion or belief, a lot of people going
00:17:40
their stories from addiction to Ministry.
00:17:44
They found a crutch they need, they go from one addiction to
00:17:47
another. What, what is real for you that
00:17:52
that's not true. How is your faith?
00:17:56
Real is opposed as just something else another rope to
00:18:00
pull out of the mire. Yes, I think that.
00:18:08
I like this question. I don't know if I fully know how
00:18:10
to answer it, but I know that like, I've had several people,
00:18:14
you tend to do with. So also, you're addicted to
00:18:16
Jesus now and I'm like, well, yeah, I mean, I guess like if
00:18:20
that's how you want to look at it, that's great.
00:18:22
But the reality is that I did find Jesus.
00:18:25
He found me. He knew where I was the entire
00:18:29
time, but he said it's your turn.
00:18:32
The ironic thing about it is everybody talks higher power.
00:18:36
I only lasted about Two months in AAA.
00:18:42
There wasn't a good in a group. So let me go into the story,
00:18:45
just a little bit to give, give the listeners a bit of a
00:18:47
background, so I grew up party and I grew up going fast.
00:18:52
If, when I say fast life, I mean bicycles motorcycles
00:18:57
wakeboarding drag racing. Any of those things that I could
00:19:01
go to get adrenaline and do like I was doing it as I progress
00:19:06
through high school that that adrenaline addiction, if you
00:19:10
will started to turn, To, you know, drinking smoking
00:19:15
marijuana, doing cocaine, taking ecstasy, and doing all these
00:19:19
other things to get some sort of high at a party or whatever.
00:19:23
It was my life cleaned up. When my first daughter was bored
00:19:30
from my ex-wife who we had met in the party scene, it was a
00:19:35
relationship that we had nothing based on God.
00:19:38
It was only based on a party. It was never, it was never a
00:19:42
great Situation. But we had a beautiful child out
00:19:45
of it and when she was born, my life cleaned up a bit, I got on
00:19:48
the fire department and started to walk a better path.
00:19:53
So The thing about it was is that as I'm walking this path,
00:19:58
I'm experiencing all these things like, saving this little
00:20:00
boy and all these other things that are happening.
00:20:03
That I don't necessarily know how to deal with because I come
00:20:08
from a sweep, it under the rug family.
00:20:09
Like if you push it under here, like it'll get better over time.
00:20:13
Well that didn't really work for me.
00:20:14
So I bottled it all up and then my release wasn't a higher power
00:20:20
if you will It was alcohol. It was drugs.
00:20:26
And so when my relationship went terrible, my marriage went
00:20:30
South, the work life wasn't great.
00:20:32
I had too much stuff to deal with.
00:20:34
I started drinking heavily and eventually that heavy drinking
00:20:39
left to me losing the Fire Department job.
00:20:44
Getting divorced, my wife at the time had become a heroin addict.
00:20:51
Crazy, just we could. Once again we could go for hours
00:20:54
into these things but my wife had become a heroin addict.
00:20:57
I'm a full-blown alcoholic. I lose the Fire Department job
00:21:01
about a year after leaving their, I get divorced and 10
00:21:05
days after the divorce, another divine intervention.
00:21:10
I literally put my daughter to bed, I had gotten full custody.
00:21:17
I was definitely the lesser of two evils.
00:21:21
I got full custody of my child, I put her to bed.
00:21:25
I went downstairs, I made a drink.
00:21:26
It was a vodka cranberry and it was the end of the vodka bottle
00:21:32
and as an alcoholic, that's kind of like a big ol.
00:21:36
My gosh, like, what am I going to do?
00:21:39
And so my daughter sleeping upstairs, the vodka bottle is
00:21:43
empty and I'm going well what do I do?
00:21:44
Do I jump in the car or just run down Street and get a bottle.
00:21:49
Do I load her up in the car and go get a bottle?
00:21:52
You know what am I going to do? All right then and there once
00:21:56
again I say somebody spoke to me and said everything you need is
00:22:01
right here. And I quit drinking, like I,
00:22:07
that was it. I said, okay, yeah, I have my
00:22:12
little girl at full custody of her.
00:22:13
I have everything I need. I'm good, I'm not going to drink
00:22:17
anymore, but I wish it was that easy.
00:22:19
That is just a switch went off and I was done but there was
00:22:22
some suffering that had to happen in that and that was I
00:22:26
did sleep that night. I called my parents the next day
00:22:29
and I said, hey like I'm going to quit drinking but I know that
00:22:33
if I'm alone I'm not Trust myself.
00:22:36
I'll end up at the liquor store. Some take my daughter to school,
00:22:40
can I come to your house? Will you, please remove any
00:22:43
alcohol you have in the house and I proceeded to have the, you
00:22:47
know, delirium tremens and dry vomiting, and just all these
00:22:52
things and eventually had a seizure and was taken to the
00:22:57
hospital I never turned back to drinking ever.
00:23:06
That was 2010. I was December 12 2010 but in
00:23:10
that went to a a couple time learned some things and, you
00:23:15
know, learned about higher power.
00:23:17
But my mind was still, I can do this on my own, I just quit
00:23:22
drinking, so, I don't need buddy else.
00:23:26
My will is good enough. I can take care of this and I
00:23:29
did really good for I don't know what it was a year, maybe a
00:23:33
little over and then started smoking weed with a lot of guys
00:23:37
in the wakeboard culture, I went back to work for the family and
00:23:40
we own a boat dealership and started smoking weed, weed led
00:23:46
to cocaine. Next thing, you know, 2013, I'm
00:23:49
a full-blown cocaine addict headed to rehab.
00:23:53
I go to rehab. You take us to all these
00:23:56
different AA programs in a programs, Buddhist 12-step,
00:24:01
programs, Catholic programs. I mean every different religion,
00:24:08
every different view you could possibly have.
00:24:11
They wanted their whole program was to introduce people to these
00:24:15
different things to see what could You know what, what they
00:24:21
would grab ahold of which higher power they grabbed ahold of
00:24:24
right throwing darts at the hall.
00:24:26
See, if something sticks, see which one sticks.
00:24:28
And so in this rehab, I had lost a lost a girlfriend and I'm
00:24:32
staying at that point in time and I thought it's pretty
00:24:37
serious. But obviously the addiction was
00:24:39
wasted more serious than than the relationship was and so I
00:24:43
prayed that if God brought her back I would turn my life to
00:24:45
him. And what's crazy about that is
00:24:49
that I had a dream that night. And I believe that God can speak
00:24:54
to us through our dreams and I believe that a lot of things can
00:24:56
can speak in there, but the tree was that I was at a wedding with
00:25:03
this girl. I didn't know who this girl was
00:25:05
at this point in time, but essentially, she left me at the
00:25:09
wedding. Basically broke up with me and
00:25:12
left me at the wedding. Like it was, it was, it was over
00:25:16
fast-forward. Six months later, I had prayed.
00:25:20
God would bring me this relationship back me and this
00:25:22
girl, Now, dating again, and there's a wedding coming up that
00:25:27
we're supposed to go to and she breaks up with me the day before
00:25:30
the wedding. So crazy.
00:25:34
Well, it is rightly said the world sees.
00:25:36
How do you explain that? Yeah, I don't know if you can,
00:25:41
but that's the kind of spiritual world that we live in right?
00:25:44
Was that God, was that Satan? I don't know.
00:25:46
But I was asking God to do something specific for me and
00:25:49
that's not necessarily how it works.
00:25:51
So, Spin back to that rehab and I'm starting to pray is starting
00:25:56
to do these things. The second I walked out of
00:25:58
there, 30 days later, all of that praying went right out the
00:26:00
door. I went right back to living my
00:26:03
life. My way, my will doing my thing
00:26:08
and did great for a long period of time until I was actually
00:26:14
playing hockey. I tore my rotator cuff the next
00:26:17
day. I get in an argument with my dad
00:26:18
at work. I'm in pain.
00:26:21
I happened to Home and the neighbor across the streets, a
00:26:25
drug addict. I'm sorry.
00:26:27
A drug dealer. I'm the drug addict.
00:26:29
I had seen him in a while and he says, hey, do you need anything?
00:26:32
And I said, yes and boom. I'm right down the spiral all
00:26:35
over again. I'm in there for about a year.
00:26:40
And, you know, this is how it really truly happened for me was
00:26:47
I'm in addiction, I meet a girl on Facebook, we get to talking
00:26:54
to just come out of a relationship.
00:26:56
So I kind of paused and gave her some time to come out of that
00:26:59
because the reality was I had my own relationship with cocaine
00:27:02
again. And that was a You know, pretty
00:27:06
serious relationship that took up a lot of my time.
00:27:11
Few months go by. We start date and things are
00:27:13
going amazing. Fell head over heels in love
00:27:16
with her but she knew something was wrong.
00:27:19
And eventually I told her I was an addict and she stood next to
00:27:24
me and said, okay what do we need to do next?
00:27:27
And I went to rehab and not October 5th of 2015, back up,
00:27:35
just a little bit. So after I told her I was a an
00:27:39
addict. Her Roots came back so I didn't
00:27:42
grow up in any sort of church or anything like that but she did
00:27:45
she had youth group and different things like that.
00:27:47
And even though we were both very far from God at this point
00:27:50
in time, she began to pray over me.
00:27:54
So like when I would fall asleep at night, she would pray over
00:27:57
me. She started praying for me.
00:27:59
She's so start to reignite within her.
00:28:03
And when I went to rehab, actually, I'm in rehab, and I
00:28:08
have a vision. And given to me of a
00:28:17
essentially, the vision was that I'm supposed to help people.
00:28:23
That I was supposed to help people switch from being
00:28:28
addicted, to drugs into action, sports into bicycles,
00:28:34
motorcycles wakeboarding. All those things that came out
00:28:37
of was kind of the vision. I took that as you do a business
00:28:42
plan because I've always been in business and I created a whole
00:28:48
facility and I had a whole plan on how we are going to introduce
00:28:51
addicts to action sports. How we were going to help the
00:28:56
whole. While my girlfriend of the time
00:28:57
is praying for me and all these other things.
00:28:59
And when I came out of treatment, we never turn back
00:29:04
about three months later. She said, I think we should
00:29:06
start looking at churches, we kind of started going to church
00:29:10
has I was open to it, I fell asleep and most of them and then
00:29:15
the cocaine No just it just the monotone vote Voice.
00:29:22
Yeah pastors this would put me sleep, I just did.
00:29:26
I was the cocaine though have that effect when it's when
00:29:29
you're coming down from it. I never found that.
00:29:33
I mean, when you're actively using, yes, like, I mean, I.
00:29:37
Okay. The, and that was those times
00:29:39
when she would pray over me because, like, I would literally
00:29:41
be on like a 24-hour bender, and then go over to her house to
00:29:46
watch a movie with her and not the doing any cocaine in the
00:29:48
body, just shuts, down, I go sleep.
00:29:52
But at this point, you know, I've been sober for probably 3
00:29:56
months. Of no using cocaine.
00:30:00
So it wasn't that the EM unless maybe I'm wrong maybe there's a
00:30:04
doctor or somebody out there tells me.
00:30:05
Yeah that was part of it but I think it was more just that I
00:30:10
boring sermons. Yeah, just just the monotone
00:30:14
voices. Put me to sleep.
00:30:15
It just wasn't the right fit and then on Easter of 2017, we went
00:30:20
to the church right now and the Holy Spirit got a hold of me.
00:30:24
They're like I just felt something different.
00:30:26
I was awake. I was Sting has paying
00:30:28
attention, how we never turn back.
00:30:32
So it started with prayers from her.
00:30:37
You know, I don't know if I ever actually got to that higher
00:30:40
power point, right? That you talked about in the
00:30:42
original question. I don't know if I ever got into
00:30:44
that higher power, like even after that, you know, coming out
00:30:49
of that last rehab, you know, I went to AA for like two months
00:30:52
and there's some cool people in there, but I can't, I just kept,
00:30:56
you know, we're saying these prayers and we're calling our
00:30:58
higher power. And at the time, I didn't
00:31:00
realize it. But now that you go in there,
00:31:02
like half the prayers were, citing are coming directly out
00:31:04
of the Bible, but we can't use the word god.
00:31:07
We can't say Jesus like we can't like it's just and that goes
00:31:10
back to my original thing. We talked about minutes ago that
00:31:12
we're taking God out of everything.
00:31:15
You can't say the name of Jesus anymore.
00:31:18
Like right. Why like why is that offensive?
00:31:23
Because it's true. But is the enemy want to sit
00:31:26
down the only truth that there really isn't?
00:31:29
Only one name under Heaven by which men can be saved, so you
00:31:33
can say every name but that yep. Exactly.
00:31:37
Yeah. That's that's an awesome way to
00:31:39
put it.
