[00:00:00] Welcome to the Ask About My Faith podcast where our hope is to inspire everyday faith
[00:00:08] conversations. I'm Jess.
[00:00:10] And I'm Abby. Today we're back for part two of our conversation with Paul Moore. As I
[00:00:15] mentioned last week, Paul has had an impressive career in the business world, from corporate
[00:00:20] to entrepreneurship to real estate and investing. It is an honor to know him and to share his to all this. And as we went there, we were finding ourselves just not even knowing anybody who really believed. And when I say believed, I mean practiced, that type of thing. And so our church believed it on paper, but we hadn't seen it in a while. And one day, the
[00:01:41] assistant pastor of the church said, I sawribably glorious. I mean could it have been staged? I mean it would have taken a lot of work to stage some of this and I didn't think it was in any way staged and it was like supernatural following this guy in India who would get ideas from the Lord at like
[00:03:05] four in the morning and then he would just hang out and just pray for people. And I thought that was pretty interesting. And I heard some other people. Yeah, I heard some other people just like to go and stand outside the door. And so we thought said, I don't think I need my crutches anymore. And she put her crutches in her car or left them with us, I think. And she went around the store and she came back and she's like, wow. She goes, well, I go to that new age, like temple. It was the only one I even knew of in this whole region. And she's like, but I really believe
[00:05:41] God healed me and I want, can I get your number? Anyway, this is my son with whom I'm so well pleased. He's saying that about you as well. He loves you that way too. And I think it touches people and gives them a different perspective of this far off God.
[00:07:00] Yeah.
[00:07:01] They don't see him that way.
[00:07:03] Who is the we that was there with you?
[00:07:06] It was just a friend of mine. One time a policeman, we were on a campus doing something similar and the policeman acted really stern at first. He said, you need to leave this campus. He said, but let me show you something. He said, look right over there. See that corner? That's the boundary of the campus. You should stand about a foot outside that and I'll leave you alone. And so that was fun.
[00:08:21] Wow.
[00:08:22] Paul, tell us about the Minneapolis I always do that at the beginning. I feel like, as a guy saying that to a lady, sometimes it feels a tiny bit uncomfortable. I'm so over that discomfort now after doing this for years. But I'll say, what's your name? They'll tell me. And then when they come back to the table again,
[00:09:41] I'll often say, hey, so we're getting ready
[00:09:44] to pray for our food.
[00:09:46] Would you like prayer for anything? wife or friends or family and sometimes it can be really, really dramatic. Sometimes they'll say no, but we can still be loving to them. Sometimes it's really awkward, but guess what? I'm sitting here, I'm not dead. You know, this highlights the importance to me of, you know, Eric, who you had met with
[00:11:01] that day for the meal, he was a Christian, well, hey, do you live close to here? And she said, yeah. And I said, well, we'd love to invite you to our church. And she said, she's doing so badly. And she got all teary that she couldn't even leave the house right now. My dad can't leave the house hardly. He's exhausted, taking care of her. Would you please pray?
[00:12:20] And we said, sure, we'll pray.
[00:12:22] So your name is, and she told me, and then
[00:12:25] Bobby, your sister, and your dad's name's Russ.
[00:12:28] And OK, got it. them beyond that. That's pretty cool that she stuck around. It reminds me of, you know, when the friends carry their paralyzed friend into him. They can't get to Jesus. They tear their roof open and blow her amen. She's doing that for her sister in a sense. Oh, wow. Yeah. You know,
[00:13:40] I had a time in my life too, and I don't understand about people who are in relationship together.
[00:15:01] But it wasn't that. hey, I'm gonna go out on a limb here. I feel like somebody here has a really bad pain in their right hip. Is that anybody? Nobody said it was them. So I said, hey, just one more time. I just wanna be sure nobody has a pain in either hip. Yeah. No, no, not either hip.
[00:16:20] Do you have any pain?
[00:16:23] Of course there's people in their 40s and 50s.
[00:16:25] Of course there's pain.
[00:16:27] But anyway, nobody said anything. was God speaking to you. I'm like, what? Anyway, so that was the first of, like I said, about 11 times this happened. And like one time we were at a restaurant and my wife and I were not getting along. I know it's hard to believe we're married and not getting along, but occasionally that happened. And we were not like, we were just not on the same page
[00:17:42] on a bunch of stuff. And it was our anniversary was thinking about you when we came to this restaurant and when we sat at this table and when you were our server and I just think he really cares about you. And so can I pray for your healing? And she said, yeah. And like I had, like God had her full attention. asked. She just kept filling the paperwork, gave me my key, and I left. So I thought, huh, okay. So she acted like she hadn't heard me. So the next morning I was getting ready and it was about 8.30 in the morning. And I went to pick up the room key
[00:20:23] and the second I touched the room key, if I asked, mentioned the night before or not, but I don't remember. But I said, I just think God really wants you to know how much He loves you today. And He showed me that. And can I pray for her? She goes, yes. And so God got her attention. It was just such a beautiful moment. I don't know if she got healed or not, but we, my daughter and I went down the road rejoicing.
[00:21:41] Yes.
[00:21:42] Was she kind of almost suspicious of you when you said that?
[00:21:48] What was her, what was her response? heal, is there a reason you say that?" He said, yeah. He said, when I started praying for people to get healed, I would say, did you know God can heal you? Can we pray for you? And he said, a few people got healed. And then he said, I think God wants to heal you right now. He said, and then he said a lot of people got healed. full confidence, but it's like God wants to show up. Yeah. I wish, I mean, those were the easy ones because it was almost like, oh yeah, this is like God clearly. And somehow or another, except for one time, I always sensed, no, no, no, except for maybe two times, I always knew who it was.
[00:24:23] In the small group setting, I did not have any idea who it was,
[00:24:26] but I thought it was somebody. great. And it just has never really worked out for me to do like to go to the foreign mission field or the 1040 window or you know to do what I really wanted really viewed as being great. But I have my 60th birthday a week ago today and at my surprise party one person after the other after the other
[00:25:41] told me how kind I was how I had touched them personally how I When I go into a grocery or anywhere, I'm asking God, what are we gonna do that, what kind of risk are we gonna take right now? What kind of fun are we gonna be able to have and go home and tell my friends and family about? So it's worth it. What a great outlook to go into each day ready and curious for what God wants to do,
[00:27:00] for how he wants to show up and show off
[00:27:02] for to impact the people around you.
[00:27:06] Yeah, thank you.
[00:27:07] It's been fun.
