LYRICS:
we, human beings
are wired for peace –
hunger for utopia still stirring in us all.
Eden the representation of the perfect place
where all was well, all the time, and to this day –
we strive to calculate
which leader, which candidate, which one can take the taint
from the earth
and restore her back
to her original shine
every four years we garner our decision,
yet as we strive for calm,
strife enters our discussions –
fear too,
(that obstinate liar)
convincing even the kindest of people
that evil is their neighbor.
but for those who follow the Way,
they strive unto a different Kingdom
where government is heralded with love and faithfulness,
and each decision is laced with justice and righteousness,
eternity at the forefront of every decree.
so with urgency,
the people of God
bring supplications, intercessions,
prayers and petitions
to the throne of grace
that hears all
from every race,
every people,
every tongue,
and every nation.
these people are different,
convicted that Shalom is not won at the ballot box
or taught through legislation,
but rather through the people of God,
alive and active,
at every waking second
devout in their destiny
to bring restoration to the earth.
voting is one thing,
living the Way is another :
remember your neighbor
remember to pray
remember to carry yourself God’s way.
