I have been there. I understand how expressing evidence of your faith in public can be a very uncomfortable thing.
The truth is that you have absolutely nothing to fear about praying in public. Why? Because your devotion to God is much more important than what people will think of you. Have you considered giving to someone homeless on the street? This is another opportunity to worship, and you should not fear helping someone in need. Worshipping in plain sight not only shows your priorities to God, but you just might inspire someone else to not be fearful as well.
