“I know I have a dirty mouth when I am around my friends, but it’s just too embarrassing to not speak like them.”
Ok, so you want to go with the flow. You don’t want to rock the boat. You want to fit in. I understand. I used to do the same thing.
The truth is that if you feel the need to modify your behavior to fit to the point where you are dishonoring God, then I suggest reexamining your priorities. Your fitting in with friends is not more important than your relationship with God. Your relationship with God is the most important relationship you will ever have. Don’t focus on going along with the flow. Focus on being your authentic self, even if it means you are ridiculed and shunned for putting your faith first. I have friends who cuss, but I don’t cuss just because they do. I honor God with my speech and you know what - the people that care take notice and find themselves curious about my faith. Don’t go with the flow. Be a beacon of faith.
