God Made Me Do It
What you see is what you get with Prafit Josiah. His latest project, āGod Made Me Do it,ā is a 12-track, story-telling, classic Hip-Hop elements filled album, with messages and scenarios centered around faith in adulthood.
To be clear, it is a constructed album, with skits and all, which in and of itself is a rarity today, but should be expected given one of his mantras, āHip-hop, Christian or not, is no longer just a young manās sport.ā He pridefully represents God and adulthood, noting that the current norm is to portray Hip-Hop as youth-oriented.
We discuss all this and more during our interview.
About The Project: God Made Me Do It
Christian Hip Hop artist Prafit Josiahās follow-up to the 2018 EP āMy God is Dopeā hits digital retailers on November 13, 2020. The new album, titled āGod Made Me Do Itā, is storytelling at its finest as Prafit explains why, after nearly 20 years, he still cannot put down the mic.
Releasing via Naz-Sect Publishing, āGod Made Me Do Itā is a 12-track album that includes classic Hip-hop elements, from production to traditional lyricism, along with a newly remastered version of Prafitās hit song āCome Backā featuring CHH mainstay R-Swift.
Beginning with his group Prafitz in 1993, Josiahās musical journey is a testament to staying the course in an industry that is quick to move on to the latest flash in the pan. As Josiah explains, āHip-hop, Christian or not, is no longer just a young manās sport. This album is four years in the making. Iām here to speak on adult things, talk about life, and point people to Godā¦oh yeah, donāt expect me to conform or try to fit in. Iām doing me!ā
About Prafit Josiah
Similar to the rappers Common and Jay-Z, Prafit Josiah is not trying to reach a younger audience. He is definitely confident and comfortable in his own musical skin. In case you didnāt know, Prafit Josiah is not only a rapper but an entrepreneur and a family man.
Born and raised in Rochester, NY; Prafit Josiah began his musical career as part of the group called Prafitz (Prophets) which formed in 1993. Prafitz released 2 albums and a myriad of singles before disbanding in 2002.
Josiah has been around for a while, heās been recording music off and on for over 20 years now. In 2016, tragedy struck Prafit Josiahās family; his cousin was murdered. This event sparked the beginning of Prafit Josiah picking the mic back up once again and seeking to have a Godly impact on the people around him and potential listeners of his music.
āHip-hop (Christian or not) is no longer just a young manās sport, Iām here to speak on adult things, talk about life and point people to God. Oh yeah, donāt expect me to conform or try to fit in, Iām doin me.ā āPrafit Josiah
So, what should you expect from Prafit Josiah? Expect candid lyricism, dope beats, plus rhymes and flows that fall in the vein of what some might call āClassicā or āGolden Eraā Hip-hop.
