Hebrews 9:14
how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
Everyone is created with a conscience from birth. The Holy Spirit puts a megaphone in front of that conscience for believers. You can sear your conscience, but you still have one none the less. Or you can live at enmity with that conscience, never knowing peace. If you do this, you are worse off than searing it altogether. At least a seared conscience can still be revived, while a smothered conscience is an active suppression of one's alignment to the universe and through deception, one rarely chooses to look outside or leave that state of ignorance and self destruction, saved only by the grace of God. Just as God said, "I would rather you be hot or cold. At least I can warm something cold, but you are lukewarm. I will spit you out of My mouth!" Something hot is ready to be enjoyed and something cold will stay preserved. But lukewarm and stagnant, it decays and flies will gather to eat the rot.
