Poor in spirit.
Mourning.
Humble.
Hungry for righteousness.
Merciful.
Pure in heart.
Peacemakers.
Persecuted for doing what is right.
These aren't necessarily the qualities the world associates with a blessed life.
But in Matthew 5, Jesus gives us a radically different picture of what life in His Kingdom looks like.
And maybe before we rush to explain the Beatitudes, there's value in simply slowing down and listening to the words of Jesus again.
