How Our Souls Are Fed

What if pursuing God isn't another burden to carry—but an invitation to a banquet?

We all know what hunger feels like.

That longing for something that will finally satisfy.

And Scripture uses that very human experience to help us understand something deeper about our souls.

Just as our bodies need food and water, our souls were created to find their deepest satisfaction in God.

The Psalms describe this longing so beautifully:
“As the deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God.” — Psalm 42:1 (NLT)

Andrew Steier reminds us that hungering and thirsting for righteousness isn't about exhausting ourselves trying to become good enough.

It's about recognizing that what our souls truly need is found in Jesus.

And when we begin to see following Him as an invitation rather than an obligation, something changes.

Obedience becomes an opportunity for joy.

Spending time with God becomes something we desire, not simply something we check off a list.

And the life Jesus invites us into begins to look less like a burden—and more like a feast. 💛
