Unwavering Faith
It's interesting how faith can be easy when life is going good. Sometimes we face small challenges and are able to pray, read your bible or hear a message that puts things in perspective. But what about those times when the storm is so bad that you can't see or hear God because the noise is too loud, the pain hurts so bad it has you questioning how and why God would allow such a horrible thing (or things) to happen to you? When nothing makes sense ; the bills are stacking up, prayers go unanswered, fired /laid off from work or the doctor delivers tough news? This is when you need Unwavering Faith.
Hebrews 10:23 (NIV)
“Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.”
Unwavering faith isn’t about never feeling fear or doubt—it’s about choosing to trust God despite those feelings. It’s faith that looks past what we see, or feel and holds onto who God is. Its a resolute and constant trust in God's promises and character, a conviction that is not shaken by doubt, fear, or difficult circumstances. It is a faith that is grounded in the unseen reality of God's truth, rather than the changing realities of the visible world.
Abraham is a classic example of unwavering faith. He believed God’s promise, even when it seemed impossible.
Romans 4:20-21 (NIV)
“Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.”
Abraham was given a promise that defied logic but Scripture says he “did not waver.” He didn’t let his circumstances talk louder than God’s Word. He clung to what God said, not what he saw.
Faith like that isn’t denial—it’s dependence. It’s choosing to believe God’s Word over the world’s reality.
Unwavering faith means standing in the middle of the storm and saying, “God is still good.” It’s praying when you’re tired, trusting when you don’t understand, and obeying even when it’s inconvenient.
Remember, faith doesn’t always feel strong. Sometimes it looks like shaky knees and whispered prayers. But the strength of your faith lies not in you—but in the One you’re trusting.
So whatever you're facing today, let Abraham’s story remind you: God honors unwavering faith, and He always keeps His promises.
Let's Pray . Dear Heavenly Father, Thank You for being faithful, even when I struggle to believe. Give me the kind of faith that stands firm, even when life shakes me. Help me to trust You when I can’t see the outcome and to obey even when it’s hard. Grow in me a faith that does not bend in the storm—a faith that stands on Your promises, brings You glory, and reflects Your goodness.
When doubts creep in, remind me of Your Word and the many times You've shown up in my life. Strengthen my heart through Your Spirit to keep trusting, keep walking by faith and not by sight, and to believe You more deeply each day. Your promises never fail, and neither will Your love.
In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.
