The Blessing of Good Relationships
Relationships are one of the greatest blessings in life. God designed us to live in connection with others, not in isolation. When we are surrounded by people who love and support us, we are better able to navigate life's challenges and celebrate its joys.
Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.Ecclesiastes 4:9–10
The people we allow into our lives have a powerful influence on who we become. This is why the Bible teaches us to be wise in how we choose our friends. When you surround yourself with people who encourage you, challenge you, and live with integrity, it pushes you to grow in the right direction. Good relationships are a reflection of God’s love, and they help us grow spiritually and personally. The right people encourage, challenge, and help us grow in ways we can’t on our own.
Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.
Proverbs 13:20
Ask yourself:
Who are the people closest to me, are they lifting me up or pulling me down?
Am I setting healthy boundaries in my friendships to protect my peace and spiritual health?
Am I investing in relationships that build me up and draw me closer to God?
Do they show integrity and godly character?
Am I a positive influence on them, and are they a positive influence on me?
Do our conversations and actions reflect God's love and wisdom?
As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another. Proverbs 27:17
God designed us for connection, knowing that we would be stronger, wiser, and more joyful when we stand together. True friendship is a gift that reflects His love, providing a safe space to grow, a helping hand when we stumble, and a partner to celebrate our victories. When we choose to surround ourselves with people who sharpen our character, encourage our faith, and live with integrity, we create a circle of support that helps us become more of who God created us to be. These are not just casual connections; they are divine appointments that protect our hearts, strengthen our spirits, and lead us closer to Him.
Let’s Pray. Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for creating us for connection with You and with others. Help me to build relationships that honor You, encourage growth, and reflect Your love. Give me the wisdom to nurture friendships that bring life and the discernment to protect my heart from unhealthy connections. May my relationships always point others closer to You. In Jesus' precious name, Amen.
