Stop Limiting Self Beliefs and Improve Your Self Concept

A Limiting Self-Belief is a negative thought/perception. Your Self Concept involves how you view your overall self-image, self-esteem, and self-worth.  Both can restrict or hinder you from achieving your full potential. These negative thoughts/ beliefs are often deeply ingrained and significantly impact our decisions,  behavior and overall life. They stem from our childhood , parents, fears, misconceptions or any traumatic experiences.  These thoughts and perceptions can prevent us from seeing our true worth, stop us from pursuing opportunities or taking risks and prevent us from living our best lives. Overcoming these limiting beliefs and improving your self concept is crucial for fulfilling God's purpose for your life.

Steps to break free: 

  1. Pray and Identify : Ask God to reveal any limiting beliefs that are holding you back. Write them down and acknowledge their presence in your life -  Psalm 139:23-24 23 Look through me, O God, and know my heart. Try me and know my thoughts. 24 See if there is any sinful way in me and lead me in the way that lasts forever.

  2. Replace the Bad with Good and Speak God’s promises over your life: For each limiting belief, find a corresponding scripture meditate on it daily. -  Romans 12:2 Do not act like the sinful people of the world. Let God change your life. Declare scriptures that affirm your identity in Christ and His plans for you. Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

  3. Seek support / Take action ( be intentional) :  Get positive and constructive feedback from  people you trust  Proverbs 27:17 Iron is made sharp with iron, and one man is made sharp by a friend. James 2:17 A faith that does not do things is a dead faith.  Consider counseling or therapy to address thoe deep-seated issues.

You can overcome any limiting beliefs and Improve your self concept. Philippians 4:13  I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father,  Help me to reveal any negative thoughts or beliefs that may be holding me back from living up to my full potential.  I trust in Your plan and ask for the strength to take action in faith. Surround me with positive influences and give me guidance and perseverance.  I thank you in advance. In Jesus' precious name, Amen
