Rely on God (Not Yourself)

Have you ever had a thought like  “If I don’t figure this out, it won’t get done.” It may not be that you don’t trust God, the issue is that you are trusting yourself more than God. We all heard the saying, If you want something done right, do it yourself. Sometimes it can feel so natural to think this way.  I am so guilty of this.

The self reliant mindset that your work ethic, your problem solving skills, or your strength is completely on your shoulders is not only exhausting, it's against what the Bible teaches.

Don’t overwhelm yourself.  Self-reliance looks confident on the outside, but it’s exhausting on the inside. God never called you to be your own Savior, your own Strength, or your own Source.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. 6 Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:5–6

Your own strength has limits — His doesn’t. Leaning on your own understanding may feel safe sometimes until life hits you with something you can’t handle.

True Strength Begins With Surrender

Start handing over the weight you’re carrying to Him, everyday. Not just your big problems, but the day-to-day decisions. Surrender isn’t weakness — it’s how you activate God’s strength in your life.

Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you 1 Peter 5:7

You Can’t Do It Without Him

With Him, you can do everything He calls you to do :Leadership, relationships, your purpose (none of it is meant to be carried alone). Any attempt to produce genuine, lasting spiritual value or to live a Christian life through one's own effort, (separated from Christ) will result in failure ("nothing").

Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me.“ Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. John 15:5

Praying, staying in the Word, and listening to the Holy Spirit is a lifestyle. They’re lifelines that keep your heart connected to your Source. The branch severed from the vine has no power or life of its own.

God Shows His Power When You Admit Your Weakness

It may not be comfortable but don't be afraid to show weakness.

Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. 2 Corinthians 12:9

Lastly, make sure you take time to thank the Lord.  Gratitude opens your eyes to how often God is already helping you and it trains your heart to look for Him in everything.

You’re not meant to be the hero of your own story. You’re meant to follow the One who already won. Relying on God doesn’t make you weaker, it makes you wiser, stronger, healthier, and more effective.

When you stop relying on your strength and start relying on Him, everything changes.

But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint . Isaiah 40:31

Lets Pray.  Dear Heavenly Father, Forgive me for the times I rely on my own strength more than I rely on You. Teach me to trust You with all my heart. Help me pause instead of panic, pray instead of stress, and listen instead of rushing ahead. Fill me with Your wisdom, Your peace, and Your strength today. Let my life be guided by Your Spirit in everything I do. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.
