Pursue Your Greatness
Have you ever noticed how sometimes people see more in you than you see in yourself? The truth is God created you with greatness inside of you. Not the world’s definition of greatness: fame, wealth, or power, but God’s definition: fulfilling the purpose He designed you for.
Unfortunately, many of us live beneath our potential, not because we don’t have it, but because we don’t believe it. Sometimes it’s fear of failure, comfort with the familiar, or sometimes it’s just simply not realizing how much God has already placed inside of us.
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them. Ephesians 2:10
In the parable of the talents Jesus told of a master who gave his servants resources (Matthew 25:14–30). Two of them pursued growth and doubled what was given, while one servant buried his gift out of fear. He didn’t lose it, he just didn’t use it. The master rebuked him because wasted potential dishonors the giver.
Sometimes we bury our potential when we:
Allow fear, doubt, or complacency to keep us from moving forward
Play it safe instead of stepping out in faith
Settle for “good enough” instead of pursuing what God calls “greater.”
God calls us to pursue growth, excellence, and our greatness. That greatness isn’t about pride; it’s about stewardship. When you develop the gifts God gave you, when you rise to challenges, when you step into roles you once thought were too big, you are multiplying what God entrusted to you.
For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work among you will complete it by the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:6
You have more potential than you realize. God isn't done working through you yet, regardless of your age, title, or position.
Don’t bury your potential or stay stagnant when God is calling you to move forward. Pursue your greatness (the greatness He planted in you before you were even born).
Ask yourself:
What areas of your life have you been settling instead of growing?
What gifts or talents has God given you that you might be underestimating?
What gift or ability might you be “burying” out of fear or self-doubt?
What’s one step of faith you can take today toward using what God has placed in you?
I will give thanks to You, because I am awesomely and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well. Psalm 139:14
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Philippians 4:13
Let’s Pray. Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the greatness You placed inside of me. Forgive me for the times I’ve settled for less, buried my potential, or allowed fear to hold me back. Help me to see myself the way You see me. Give me the courage to step into the opportunities You provide and to pursue the fullness of my purpose in Christ. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.
