Let God Be Your Stress Reliever
Stress has a funny way of sneaking up on us. It’s defined as a state of mental or emotional strain or tension resulting from demanding circumstances. The good news is that God never designed us to carry all of life’s burdens on our own. He invites us to hand them over to Him.
Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. 1 Peter 5:7
When stress rises, our natural response is to reach for temporary "stress relievers" like endless phone scrolling, overeating, or whatever your fix may be. These habits only provide temporary relief while God offers lasting peace.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and pleading with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
When we bring everything to Him in prayer, His peace guards our hearts and minds.
Instead of bottling up stress, release it daily to God. Let prayer become your stress detox. Worship becomes our mental reset. God’s Word becomes our anchor.
Give your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall. Psalm 55:22
Here are some Practical Steps
Pause & Pray – When stress hits, stop and talk to God about it immediately.
Trade Worry for Worship – Put on a worship song that reminds you of who God is.
Write It Down – Journal your burdens, then literally pray over the page and give it to God.
Lean on His Promises – Memorize scriptures like: (or whatever your favorite one is)
Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28
Remember that you don't have to carry your stress alone. Make the choice to give that burden to Him. You can start small—whether it's pausing for 60 seconds of prayer when anxiety first hits, turning on a worship song instead of reaching for your phone, or simply opening your journal to offload a worry. By leaning into these simple practices, you'll discover that peace isn't just a promise for the future, it's a powerful daily reality available to guard your heart right now.
Let’s Pray. Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that I don’t have to carry life’s stress alone. Help me to cast my cares on You and trust that You are in control. Replace my anxiety with Your peace, my fear with Your confidence, and my stress with Your rest. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.
