Keeping God First in a Noisy, Distracting World (part 1)

Right now my life is the loudest it's ever been.  New job in a new location, family life, etc.  Trying to navigate can be a bit overwhelming at times as I try to find peace in all the noise. It’s interesting how I know God is here for me but sometimes I have to remind myself the importance of relying on him and not putting the pressures of life on myself.  As usual I run to the Bible for guidance on how to keep God first and stay focused on him when the world is working hard trying to pull you away.

God gave us a very clear roadmap on how to stay centered in Him even when everything else feels chaotic.

  • Start With God Before the Day Starts With You

Seek the Kingdom of God] above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. Matthew 6:33

Starting your day with God sets your spiritual tone.   A prayer, a verse, a devotion, etc.. Even 10 minutes can held shift your mindset. If God gets the first part, He becomes the leading part.

  • Stay Connected All Day — Not Just in the Morning

Pray without ceasing. 1 Thessalonians 5:17

Quick prayers throughout the day like: “Lord guide me” , “ Holy Spirit, help me respond the right way” ….

Small spiritual check-ins can keep your heart aligned with Him in the middle of the day’s noise.

  • Guard Your Heart From What Pulls You Away

Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. Proverbs 4:23

Your heart is shaped by what you consume, ** pay attention to what you watch, listen to and who hang with -  (social media, TV, music, friends etc. ) Guarding your heart means protecting the part of you where God speaks, guides, and strengthens.

  • Stay Filled With the Word

Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path. Psalm 119:105

Even a few verses a day will realign your spirit when everything else feels chaotic.

Consistency produces clarity. God’s word anchors, directs, strengthens, and grounds you.

  • Surrender Your Stress — Don’t Carry What God Wants to Hold

Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. 1 Peter 5:7

You cannot keep God first when stress is sitting in first place. You cannot keep God first when stress is sitting in first place.

Keeping God first won’t always feel easy especially when life is loud, fast, and full.
Re-align your spirit, quiet the noise, and keep your eyes fixed on Him.

Part 2 will continue with four more powerful steps including :
Kingdom priorities, Godly community, rest, and being led by the Holy Spirit.

Let’s Pray. Dear Heavenly Father, help me  keep you at the center. Help me to seek You first and stay connected to you throughout the day. Please help me  quiet my mind, guard my heart, and fill myself with Your Word. Teach me to rely on You instead of myself. Thank You for being my peace in the middle of life’s chaos.
In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.
