How to Stay Encouraged

Our lives are filled with challenges and trials that can easily leave us feeling discouraged. Even though we know GOD is with us, sometimes we are distracted by the chaos or magnitude of the situation. We need a strategy for handling these types of situations.  As usual , the Bible gives us clear direction on how to stay encouraged during difficult times.

Here is a practical strategy:

  1. Pray:  Bring your worries to God in prayer.  Philippians 4:6-7 says Do not worry. Learn to pray about everything. Give thanks to GOD as you ask Him for what you need. (verse 7) The peace of God is much greater than the human mind can understand. This peace will keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

  2. Find Strength in Scripture : Have several "Go to " scriptures like  Joshua 1:9 which says Have I not told you? Be strong and have strength of heart! Do not be afraid or lose faith. For the Lord your God is with you anywhere you go.”  or  Isaiah 41:10 which says Do not fear, for I am with you. Do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will give you strength, and for sure I will help you. Yes, I will hold you up with My right hand that is right and good.

  3. Trust God (focus on him) : Reflect on God's past faithfulness and trust that He works for your good, even in challenging situations. Jeremiah 29:11 says For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the Lord, ‘plans for well-being and not for trouble, to give you a future and a hope.

  4. Lean on your (Christian) Community/Family : Surround yourself with fellow believers and/or people who can support and uplift you. 1st Thessalonians 5:11 says So comfort each other and make each other strong as you are already doing.

Staying encouraged during difficult times is possible when we trust and focus on Him through prayer, scripture and surrounding ourselves with others who will help to support and uplift us. By doing these things, we can navigate through  challenging seasons with hope and confidence in God's love.
