God’s Timing
A month and a half ago my wife and I were down to one car which ended up breaking down on the freeway. The mechanic said the repair would cost between $6,000 and $9,000 (ouch). We not only didn’t have the money for the repair, we barely had enough to rent a car.
You can probably imagine how hopeless that felt. My wife still had to get to work, my son to school and I just accepted a new job (very far away) which started in a couple of weeks. We didn’t just need the one car fixed, we needed two cars, and fast. The situation felt impossible.
Of course, God worked it out where we were not only able to get the two cars we needed, but I got mine just 4 days before my new job started (talk about timing...God is so good!).
God’s Word makes it clear; His timing is always right on schedule, even when it doesn’t match ours. He doesn’t operate on our clock. He works on His divine calendar. When things seem delayed, it’s not because He is ignoring you; it’s because He’s aligning people, circumstances, and even you for the right moment. God is very strategic.
To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: Ecclesiastes 3:1
God’s Timing Matters
Our waiting is not wasted time. Waiting is often used to prepare us for what’s coming (sometimes we are not ready). In the Bible Joseph waited over a decade after being sold into slavery before stepping into his dream (Genesis 37-50); David was anointed king but didn’t sit on the throne right away. (1 Samuel 16:1-13) They had to grow, mature, and learn to depend on God before their appointed moment arrived.
Regardless of how things look or how you feel, your proper time is coming; don’t quit before it gets here and don't lose faith.
So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Galatians 6:9
When It Feels Like God Is Late (He’s not)
Stay Faithful in the Small Things - Keep doing what God already told you to do. Your obedience today sets you up for blessings tomorrow.
If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities. Luke 16:10
Trust God When You Don’t Understand – You don’t have to see the whole plan to trust that God knows what He’s doing.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. 6 Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:5–6
Wait with Expectation, Not Frustration - God renews your strength as you wait.
But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31
Remember Who’s in Control. Sometimes God delays things because He knows we’re not ready (or the situation isn’t ready for us). But His delay is never a denial. God’s timing may test your patience, but it never fails His purpose. When you trust His process, the wait always leads to something worth waiting for. His timing is always perfect.
Let’s Pray. Dear Heavenly Father, help us to trust You while waiting and when we don’t see results right away. Teach us to wait with faith, patience, and confidence that You are working behind the scenes for our good. Strengthen our hearts so we don’t give up in the waiting season, but instead grow closer to You. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.
