Don’t Get Lost in the Struggle

My ideal morning routine is simple: wake up early, pray, spend some time in the Word, then take on the rest of the day. Unfortunately for me, I have not mastered this yet.   I’ve learned that when I start my day with God, it’s like putting on a bulletproof vest or a suit of armor and I can handle what comes my way.

On the days I skip my routine (for whatever reason), little challenges feel like mountains. Traffic feels worse. Bills look bigger. And before I know it, I’m knee-deep in chaos, wondering, “How did my day, (or even week) get so off track ?

The truth is, the routine itself isn’t magic—it’s the time with God that gives me perspective. When I skip it, it’s easy to get lost in the struggle.

Try these five steps if you feel yourself getting “Lost in the Struggle”

1. Look to God First

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.  Matthew 6:33

When we put God first, the rest of life starts to fall into place. Struggles don’t vanish, but our perspective shifts—we’re no longer carrying the weight alone.

2. Cast Your Burdens on Him

Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7

Life feels heavier when we try to carry what only God can handle. Hand Him the weight—He’s not only able, He’s willing.

3. Remember Struggles Produce Strength

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

James 1:2–4

***Every struggle is actually building you up though it may feel like breaking you down.

4. Trust God’s Plan in the Process

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.

Romans 8:28

Even when you can’t see how the pieces fit together, trust that God does. What feels like chaos to us is part of His bigger picture.

5. Fix Your Eyes on Jesus (Hebrews 12:1–2)

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1–2

Jesus endured the greatest struggle (the cross) yet He pressed on for the joy set before Him. **When life feels overwhelming, keep your focus on Him. If He conquered the cross, He can carry you through your battles.

Don’t get lost in the struggle. Get anchored in God. Stress, finances, relationships, and work may press you, but don’t let it define you (or your day). Remember, you’re more than a conqueror through Christ.

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us

Romans 8:37

Prayer

Let's Pray. Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for being my strength in life’s struggles. Help me not to get lost in worry, stress, or fear, but to stay rooted in You. Remind me that every trial is temporary, but Your promises are eternal. Anchor my heart in Your peace and guide my steps through the struggles I face. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.
