Biblical Literacy
Have you ever felt like the Bible is too hard to understand, or maybe you don’t have the right education to “get it”? God never intended His Word to be limited to scholars or people with advanced degrees. The Bible was written for ordinary people, and the Holy Spirit is the One who makes it come alive.
Biblical literacy isn’t about academic comprehension or advanced education; it’s actually about knowing, trusting, and applying God’s Word through the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit Is Our Teacher
You don’t need to rely on your IQ, background, or reading level to grasp the truth of Scripture. The Holy Spirit gives understanding.
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and remind you of all that I said to you. John 14:26
God Gives Light to the Simple
God made His Word plain enough for a child to believe it and powerful enough to guide a lifetime.
The unfolding of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple. Psalm 119:130
(Notice, it doesn’t say “to the educated” or “to the theologians.”)
Knowledge Without Obedience Isn’t Literacy
You can know verses but still miss the point if you don’t live them out. True biblical literacy isn’t about how much you can recite but how much you let God’s Word shape your life. Don’t just hear the Word, do what it says.
But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not just hearers who deceive themselves. James 1:22
Biblical understanding isn’t about how smart you are, it’s about how surrendered you are. Rely on the Spirit, read the Word with humility, and apply what you learn. Even the “least educated” believer can walk in greater truth than the most educated skeptic, because God reveals His Word to those who seek Him.
Let’s Pray. Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for making Your Word clear and alive through Your Spirit. Remind me that it’s not about my education level, but about my willingness to listen and obey. Give me wisdom, understanding, and a heart that loves Your truth. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.
