Are you a Christian ? Part 2 : Ask yourself, Are you truly living the Christian Life?
In today’s world, the word "Christian" is used often, but what does it really mean to be one? Is it about attending church regularly, reading the Bible, or being kind to others? While these are all good practices, the Bible tells us that being a Christian is much deeper than outward actions. It’s about the condition of our hearts and our relationship with Jesus Christ.
2 Corinthians 13:5
Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?
Paul’s challenge to the Corinthians in 2 Corinthians 13:5 encourages us to reflect on our own lives. He asks us to examine ourselves to see if we are truly in the faith. This isn’t about doubting our salvation, but rather making sure that our lives align with the truth of the gospel.
Do a "self-check", Be honest and ask the following questions:
Do you have a personal relationship with Christ? If so, has it become stale, routine or non- existent? A major aspect of a personal relationship is quality time. Being a Christian isn’t about following a set of rules or traditions. It’s about having a personal, growing relationship with Jesus Christ. When you invite Christ into your heart, you begin a journey of transformation. The Holy Spirit works within you, helping you to become more like Christ each day. Do you experience His presence in your daily life? Do you turn to Him in prayer, seek His guidance, and find comfort in His Word?
Does your life reflect Christ? John 13:35 says "By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another" Our faith should be evident in the way we live and love. Being a Christian means allowing Christ to shine through you. Do your actions reflect His love, grace, and truth? Are you living in a way that honors Him?
Do you have a heart of repentance? No one is perfect, and we all fall short at times. But a true Christian is marked by a heart of repentance. When you recognize sin in your life, do you turn to God for forgiveness and seek to change? A repentant heart is a sign of genuine faith, showing that you desire to live according to God’s will.
Take a moment to reflect on your own life. Ask yourself, are you truly living as a follower of Christ? If there are areas where you’ve drifted, remember that God’s grace is sufficient. He invites you to draw near, to renew your commitment, and to walk closely with Him.
Let's pray: Dear heavenly father, help me to examine my heart and my life. I desire to be live in a way that honors You. Reveal any areas where I need to grow and give me the strength to change. Thank You for Your grace and for the relationship I have with You. In Jesus' precious name, Amen.
