A Post-Election Reflection : (GOD's Kingdom Above All)
Well, the votes are in! And whether we’re feeling hopeful or a little disappointed today, it’s good to remember one crucial truth: our hope doesn’t rest in election results but in the unchanging sovereignty of GOD.
Romans 13:1
Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.
It’s a reminder that God’s plan isn’t dependent on human leadership. Jesus himself said:
John 18:36
Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.
This isn’t to say earthly leaders don’t matter—they do, and they have real responsibilities. But our trust is in the One who reigns over all things, using everything for His purposes.
Political leaders will come and go. We’ll have more elections, more campaigns, and yes, more political debates. But God’s Word is steady and sure, reminding us that no matter who sits in office, GOD’s throne is firmly established. We have a call to pray for our leaders:
1 Timothy 2:1-2
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
Whether we voted for them or not, lifting them up in prayer is part of our Christian walk.
I like to think of it this way: we’ve all cast our ultimate vote—for GOD! And thankfully, His term never expires. So today, let’s refocus on the Kingdom that lasts forever. GOD’s unchanging authority and reassures readers that their trust should rest in His Kingdom, above any earthly results.
Let's Pray: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for being our true leader. Help us to live out our faith with grace, unity, and love, and to trust in Your unchanging rule over all things. Help us focus on you and the things of the kingdom. May we reflect Your peace in all we do. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
